“บ้านอารีย์” เริ่มต้นจากเป็นสถานที่ทำงานของกลุ่มญาติธรรมที่มีใจอุทิศทำงานเพื่อพระพุทธศาสนา โดยได้เปิดให้ผู้สนใจอื่นๆ ได้เข้ามาศึกษาก่อเกิดประโยชน์ด้วย ปัจจุบันได้จดทะเบียนจัดตั้งเป็นมูลนิธิบ้านอารีย์ เมื่อวันที่ ๑๐ ตุลาคม ๒๕๕๐ ได้รับรองเป็นองค์กรสาธารณประโยชน์ ตามพระราชบัญญัติส่งเสริมการจัดสวัสดิการสังคม เมื่อวันที่ ๑๗ กรกฎาคม ๒๕๕๒ และได้เป็นองค์การหรือสถานสาธารณกุศล ลำดับที่ ๗๖๘ ตามประกาศกระทรวงการคลังฯ เมื่อวันที่ ๓๐ ธันวาคม ๒๕๕๔ และได้รับพระราชทานรางวัลเสาเสมาธรรมจักร ประเภทสมาคม องค์กร มูลนิธิ สถาบัน และหน่วยงานที่มีกิจกรรมส่งเสริมพระพุทธศาสนา ประจำปี ๒๕๕๗ จากสมเด็จพระเทพรัตนราชสุดาฯ สยามบรมราชกุมารี
