It’s an ok backgammon app

The app has a large user base, so you can find games easily, which is nice. There is no match play, though you can rematch with players if they agree.

The downsides are that you must bet with the in game currency, so if you run out of coins, you can’t play anymore. The game also “takes a rake” of each bet, so you don’t actually win as much as you bet for a standard win. This makes it so that even if you do maintain a 50/50 W/L record with only standard wins, you will always be losing coins. There are daily bonus coins that can make up for that deficit, but only if you are playing in the lower bet ranges.

The worst part of the game, by far is that the animations for the bonuses take wayyy too long. The spin and scratch off games should take 2seconds, but they stretch them out to make them more suspenseful, then will always ask you if you want to pay $2 to play the game again for 10x payouts. This is so annoying that I literally just don’t do them anymore.

Many people point out that the dice aren’t fair in this game, but it’s hard to truly substantiate such claims.

The AI is also terrible. Like they just basically randomly move checkers around so it’s not fun at all.

So fixed it’s laughable

If you like games where you have impossible winning streaks followed by infuriating losing streaks, you’ll love this app. If you prefer a fair game with fair dice, however, you’re going to want to pass on this. Once you make it past the barrage of popups and distractions, the game itself is pretty well done with graphics that make other gammon apps seem amateurish. Play long enough, and you’ll discover some fishy things going on. For instance, while every player’s winning rate hovers around 50%, you’ll notice that you and nearly everyone you play is in the midst of a winning or losing streak (it shows each player’s record over last six games), and you’re often matched against a player with the opposite streak going—if you’re winning, they’re losing and vice versa. Players in the midst of winning streaks seem to get the luckiest dice rolls. Even you can compensate for any bad luck with skill and you’re able to mount a substantial lead, your lucky opponent will get amazing rolls that flip the game. The most glaringly obvious area it’s fixed is when you’re trying to bear in off the bar and continually miss any open points. I’ve taken nearly a dozen turns in a row before where I had a 50/50 chance of bearing in and still couldn’t hit the open points. The odds of that happening are astronomical. You’ll want to immediately delete the app in those situations, and you should!

I luvd this game until....

I was looking for a good backgammon game. This one was lookin good until I made that decision to buy credits. I spent very little but it did the trick. I was winning at least 40% of the time, and when I lost, I didn’t feel like it was really unfair. The other ‘player’ wasn’t spankin me. When the other ‘player’ needed a 2 to take my peg, they always didn’t get it. Though I knew the dice weren’t random, I still felt uncreated. Then.... I spent. Played only 2 games before I’m writing this review. Why? Now I’m gettin shanked. The 2nd game, my opponent rolled double 6s every other roll totally 4 sets of double 6s. Who can compete w that? All the while I have 2 pegs on the bar. When they got there, my opponent had 4 slots open. I rolled 6/2 4 times in a row, then of course w the double 6s all the oen slots filled fast. Also, rarely did my opponent ask for 2xs before I spent and if they did it was at an appropriate time. After I spent, it was right out the gate. Now, I could get jumping the gun w this review. If doesn’t continue this way, I’ll update this review. I doubt I’ll be coming back here though. So, play and enjoy, don’t spend money if u do. I get once u spend, the developers know at that point ur willing to and will do what’s necessary to make u spend more. They should’ve left the game as it was, I would spend more on a game that’s fair, then one that cheats me.
