iPhone Screenshots

Background is a beautiful, well designed and easy to use Unsplash client, in which you can browse and save high quality, curated photos. The collection is updated every day. Saved images can be used among other things as a wallpaper as they are under Creative Common Zero License which means you can copy, modify, distribute and use the photos for free, including commercial purposes, without asking permission from or providing attribution to the photographer or Unsplash.
Save a picture by touching and holding it.
Background is free, but with an in-app purchase you can buy Background Premium, which turns off the unobtrusive ads and unlocks the search.
There are 4 basic screens (the order of which can be changed and screens can be hidden):
– search (requires Background Premium),
– newest, hand-picked photos,
– favourite photos (requires Background Premium),
– settings.
See more photos by scrolling down or up. You can change the screen by swiping left or right.

– Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase.
– Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period.
– Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal.
– Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase.
– Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable.

Some reviews:
"This is best wallpaper app. I highly recommend as this the first the wallpaper app I’ve used in 3 years before the others for the most part were pretty tacky. These are high quality wallpaper and there is a wide variety of them."

"This app is fantastic, by far the best wallpaper app I’ve seen. It has a great minimalistic design for finding new wallpapers and buying the premium is only one time, and totally worth it. Wallpapers are gorgeous and HQ, totally worth it!"

High quality photos!

The images are really sharp! I love that the pictures are bigger than the iPhone screen. This is a must when you want to use the picture as a background with the parallax effect on. -The slight zoom the iPhone puts on the image to create the effect for the background doesn’t cause the image to look blurry.- That is my main issue with other background apps. This one has beautifully sharp pictures, even with the zoom.

Another pet peeve of mine is with the plus size iPhones and turning the device sideways. There’s a further zoom into the background in landscape mode. The images are still really sharp there too. I’m thoroughly impressed by that.
Plus the UI of the app makes it fun to scroll through the pictures.
A must for people who change their background nearly daily or more, as I do! 👍

Asks for more privacy access than it needs

The app requires uses to give it access to read and see all of an user’s existing personal photos, instead of asking for permission for adding new photos only. An app with internet access and also with access to all existing photos can easily upload the user’s personal photos to its developers, without the user knowing anything about it. An app should not ask to be given more access than it really needs in order to function properly.

EDIT: reply to developer’s response -
If a person doesn’t allow read access to photos, it makes more sense to just save the wallpapers to the camera roll (and maybe notify the user about it), instead of not saving them at all, just because you can’t put them into a separate album. Saving the wallpapers to the phone is more important than putting them into a separate album, so the user should still be able to download the wallpapers even if there’s not in a separate album. At the same time feel free to display a notification message about this.

It's not possible to save a photo to concrete album (called Background) without asking for permission to read the photo library. Please submit the idea to Apple: https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Refreshingly simple; great content

It’s a wallpapers app on the surface, one with exceptional content at that. I’d also say that there seems to be a better response from iOS when implementing these images as backgrounds on devices, over the traditional browser/saved to images route, as the images look much sharper.

However the best thing about the app, is the refreshingly simple yet thought out way in which it delivers it’s purpose (wallpapers!).

Have an iPhone 7+/8+/X? In that case you have a sexy device. Don’t keep it stock or use a low res background. Get something from this great app and network of awesome talent. Well done and well worth a the price happy hour “craft beer”.
