Description

Watch your BAC!

Baculator Pro is designed for Pros. Whether you are a young professional just getting started with binge drinking, grizzled alcoholic, or starting to taper off, retire, and make better choices, you are the target audience!

This app will help you track your blood alcohol content (BAC) during a night out (or in...) and keep a log of what kind of drinks you had, because we all know you won't remember tomorrow!

So whether you're trying to cut back on your consumption, just trying to be a better drunk professional, or simply interested in seeing how high this app can count, you'll certainly want Baculator Pro with you while you're taking the piss!

Baculator Pro implements a well known formula called the Widmark Formula. This formula is used for ESTIMATING a person's blood alcohol content. Google it.

The Widmark Formula formula takes into account a person's Weight, Gender, and amount of alcohol consumed in a given period. Although not a perfect method for calculating a person's true BAC, it has been shown to be relatively close, actually, tending to under estimate the "true" BAC....so keep that in mind, ya filthy animal.

This app connects to Apple Health to read your weight and gender, as well as to record alcoholic beverages drank etc.

This app is not to be used ever, for aiding in a decision to operate a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Just because Baculator Pro says you may be below the legal drinking limit, does not mean that you are. Ducks ducking love to lie. Please drink and use this app responsibly and professionally....

Some usability improvements needed

I like the simplicity of the app.

The sliders when inputing oz and percentages are hard for me to use. What about an option to use text input?

Is there a way to just delete one drink? Sometimes I accidently hit the standard short cut. Then I have to reset the day and re add everything. A log view with timestamped drinks would be cool. Let me know if I just missed this feature.

Developer Response ,

Hello and thank you for the review!!

I will hopefully have an update out at the end of this week with some better input options for you.

I like your idea for a time stamped log view and will look to implement that too.

If you accidentally add a drink, then you should be able to hit the undo button to simply remove the previous drink and its impact on your BAC without impacting any other drinks from the session.

Feel free to email me with any more questions or suggestions at dev@corith.com

Could be much better

The app assumes that the drink you enter is consumed immediately and not over time, causing the BAC to be totally miscalculated. You can not set your weight and sex without giving the app access to the health app. Entering a drink manually is virtually impossible since the numbers will scroll of to the right and not allow you to see what you are entering. If you are looking for a real way to track your BAC this is not the App.

Developer Response ,

Hey. Thanks for the feedback and sorry my app frustrated you!

Assuming the drink you entered is consumed immediately gives you the freedom to choose at what point you want to add it to your BAC.

This gives you the option to have it be a big impact or simulate the drinking over time by entering it before the drink is finished.

We also offer the ability to enter drinks “already started”.

Do you have any suggestions on how to best implement for a drink over time? Would you like a per sip entry method? Or an option for a more in depth drink entry form for users that don’t mind a longer data entry time?

Apple health has been working for majority of our users so far. However, we will add the ability to manually enter your weight if you don’t put that information in your Apple health. Good suggestion.

As for the numbers scrolling off to the right, what device are you using? Are you using larger system font? If so the app is definitely not optimized for larger system font and may experience UI issues with a large font.

Will update it to look better in this case.

Would love to tailor the app for your use case. So feel free to reach out via email if you’ve got other ideas etc. :)
