I was listening to some music through my Skullcandy Uproar Wireless headphones, and one time I thought that the center (usually the singer's voice) had shifted to the left. I thought it was my hearing, but I thought I'd check the Mac's "Sound" balance setting...and it had shifted to the left. I manually changed it back to the center position, but a few days later, when I was listening through those headphones again, it seemed like the balance was off...and, once again, the balance setting had shifted to the left. I then Googled the problem and found Balance Lock. I installed it, and for a test, I manually changed the balance setting from the center, and Balance Lock automatically shifted the balance back to the center. This is a really, really great product! Thank you for creating and offering it!

It works great at keeping balance at a selected level. I had been waiting for Apple to fix this annoying balance shift issues. I notice the app hasn't been updated for a while, but I would have a suggestion for a future version. Please allow also to select a volume whenever a balance adjustment is made. It seems balance lock always levels the balance at the higher channel volume, which in many cases it can be ear damaging loud. I would like Balance Lock to have a slider option to select the target volumen whenever it does a balance change (not when balance is fine and doesn't need readjustment).

It seems to only allow centering. I want it to let me pick it to go all to the left ear as I am deaf in my right ear and I need silence in my right ear to avoid dialing up my tinnitus. I also need this to work only for specific headsets as some devices I don't want forced to all left. I only find out the inteface it back to centered when I start to get fatiged from the tinnitus and check the settings.I am not going to use this app becuase it does not meet my needs but I am giving it 5 stars because the developer is fighting a good fight on implementing things to fix Apple's short comings.

For any reason your audio doesn't play out of both speakers or one more so than the other, try this free app. For every mac that I own, I have installed a licensed copy of Boom audio. For some odd reason the audio seems to shift to one speaker on its own. Balance Lock is an audio shifting watch dog. It re-centers your computer audio if any background glitches cause it to drift without your input. Works perfectly!
