Access Music Not Available Elsewhere!

The only reason I even know about this app is bc one of my favorite artists, Beast 1333, is purely underground. His release of a 10 year anniversary album (time flies bc I still remember Mouth of Madness and thinking “Who is this??!) came two nights ago. My local vinyl store was supposed to have the album. Didn’t. The purchase of one album got me access to (what looks like) his ENTIRE discography. If u love music and support individual creators of unique content - this seems to be THE app for that! Not only that but it allows the musician to stay in contact with their fan base if they choose to - which Beast 1333 does regularly and prides himself on. Every music fan should have this!

Inconsistent and not-so-user-friendly

When I signed up I had a specific band in mind that I was going to subscribe to. It took me actually going to the bands website to find the link to pay for my subscription. I added my cc info on the app and then had to re-enter it when signing up thru the bands website, which raises the question: Why does the app need my cc info? And why not have the subscription link on the bands page with the “follow” button? It seems to me that this would actually deter subscribers without an easier access to the service.

I have seen and am very familiar with a friends account to reference my next two claims: the catalog listing is ridiculously inconsistent. The shows that are in my current catalog are in completely different order than my friends, leaving me searching for a needle in a haystack searching for the newest additions. It also looks like they are some missing. So where are they?

The particular band that I subscribe to has 22 years of soundboards and they have been uploading one (sometimes two at a time) every few days since the pandemic started. That’s almost a year of older soundboards being uploaded- all from different time periods- every few days. Now, it’s all a mess. Even recent soundboards from 2019 of multiple-night runs are out of order and not placed together. It’s like someone just threw them all in a bag, shook it up, dumped it out and walked away.

Not User Friendly

For some reason they took away the History tab and replaced it with downloads. That essentially rendered the app useless for me because I have almost 1500 albums in my collection and if I was really enjoying something it was a good way to quickly access things I was playing repeatedly. Otherwise I have to scroll eternally or try to use the clunky, unreliable search engine which often does not provide complete listings. Why can’t we have the History tab back? This app has been nothing but trouble, when it works it’s okay but it an be buggy. Plus Bandcamp customer service is nonexistent. They have never responded to a single on of my emails for support. No way to organize my collection, it’s pretty disappointing. Too bad they don’t have any competition. Now, for some unexplained reason, the app has stopped working on my iPad..... it worked this morning.

Update: there is now no way to even email them via customer support because there is no way to send the message from their web site. This lack of regard for the customer is appalling. I am going to email all the artists I support and tell them why I will no longer be doing business with such an irresponsible and disrespectful business entity. Zero customer support, lousy interface, buggy app and any useful functionality rendered useless. 🤬
