B.E.N. is the official Government of Barbados exposure notification app sponsored by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Utilizing privacy-preserving technology developed by Apple and Google, your phone receives notice if you may have been exposed to COVID-19. The app is built by Keyed Systems XAFE in partnership with the nonprofit PathCheck Foundation. It uses Bluetooth to exchange anonymous keys with other app users within 6 feet of each other for more than 15 minutes. A user who tested positive for COVID-19 may anonymously share a verification key they are provided by contact tracer agents, allowing the system to let others know when they should take extra care and get tested due to potential exposure. Nobody ever knows your identity or location, and no information is tracked or traced back to you.

The app relies on community opt-in! Please share and urge friends, family, and coworkers to run BIMShield. B.E.N. is made available to all locals and visitors by the Government of Barbados to help slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and support the global fight against COVID-19. Like wearing a mask, social distancing, and washing hands, it adds another layer to our defense against the virus to make us all safer. The app is part of a comprehensive contact tracing initiative managed by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. The app’s source code is open and has been carefully inspected by privacy and security experts. For more information, visit https://benapp.gov.bb.
