No advertising, even in the free version. The Pro version has a bulk scanning feature that is fast enough to hold you over until you are scanning high speed barcodes on an assembly line.
Got a skid full of monitors? Get all their serial numbers nice and fast with the Pro version. Need to tie it to a custom web service? Easy done, even in the free version. Multiple custom web servers are easy with the Pro version.
A variable intensity light keeps you from auto washout and the camera focus is tuned for that sweet spot where the barcode has to be large enough to distinguish the lines.
Great support for a bunch of 1D barcodes and a few popular 2D barcodes like DataMatrix (UIUD anyone?).

Says what it does, does what it says

I was looking for simple no thrills barcode scanning app and that’s exactly what I found in this app. It scans and displays the barcode and type in a simple easy to read and save format.

I would recommend a few add-ons but a few of which would make it very hard to maintain as keeping a database of all new codes and existing codes can be a full time job. What I think would be possible though is to enable a web browser function to search the Barcode online for the product name otherwise everything is copacetic and I appreciate the app will probably go pro not because I need it but to help and reward for development!
