BARDEUM: Where Great Storytelling Meets the Museum

Like the Traveling Bard, our innovative edutainment experiences at museums and historical sites are informative, captivating and unforgettable.

BARDEUM™ is the first and only mobile app to offer experiences which enhance the museum and historical site visit by transporting tourists into fictional stories embroidered with rich authentic historical detail.

Step Inside the Story™ and become part of the intrigues, deceptions and fascinating events of the past.  Walk in the same spot of ground as the characters of history and immerse yourself into their world.

Go Beyond the Frame™ and learn of artists and the events that influenced their works through quality storytelling.

We also offer our free In the Queue Series™ which include short topical audio articles to educate and entertain while visitors wait in the long lines outside tourist attractions.

Currently we offer one of each of these experiences.  Our Step Inside the Story experience is for the Roman Forum and is entitled The Death of Cornelia.   It is 91 AD and nine years into the reign of Emperor Domitian. Rumors swirl as to his cruelty and instability.  Domitian has ordered the death of the Vestal Maxim Cornelia, the highest female priest of Rome. Step Inside the Story of these true events and follow the Vestal Ravinia whose secrets may reveal the reasons behind Cornelia’s horrifying execution.  Learn of Rome’s history and see digital reconstructions of the monuments as they were 2000 years ago.  Due to graphic descriptions, this experience is recommended for ages 13 and up.

Our Go Beyond the Frame™ experience is Murder in the Great Hall for the Detroit Institute of Arts.  At the conclusion of an exclusive after-hours tour, the body of docent Charles Kettner is found bludgeoned on the floor of the magnificent Great Hall.  To find his killer, Detective Nate Coleman must re-enact the fateful tour.  What he learns about authenticating masterpieces and Renaissance Art become key to solving Mr. Kettner's murder.  An Agatha Christie style murder mystery recommended for ages 10 and up.

Both the Step Inside the Story and Go Beyond the Frame experiences include a Selfie @ the Site feature allowing visitors to add related stickers and share their memories on social media.

Our free In the Queue Series experience is Spartacus: The Man versus the Legend for waiting in line at the Roman Colosseum. Listeners discover the incredible feats of the true Spartacus - according to ancient historians - in contrast to the Legend of Spartacus whose creation actually began in 18th century France.

A fun way to visit the DIA

Wasn’t sure what I was in for but I had been planning a trip to Detroit and the DIA for awhile so I downloaded the app and Murder in the Great Hall story. It was a very very pleasant surprise. I learned more about the art and artists in the Renaissance galleries than I had in all previous trips to the DIA. And it was a way more fun and engaging way to do it! I highly recommend the app which is simple to use and the story which was a clever way to impart real facts while distracting me with a good fictional mystery story. Well done - I hope they have more stories near me soon. Otherwise I may have to just go to Italy!
