I never understood why BC updated its system in such a way that there was no forward compatibility. My current organization is the second who decided the "new" version was so much less product that they refused to migrate--while BC did nothing, so far as I can tell, to help with that burden. This new release continues to penalize those who liked the first version and who had too much invested to rework thousands of documents. The dev team crows about all the great new features....not a single one of which works with "classic" accounts. The team is obviously very pleased with themselves and their work, and no doubt they worked hard. But they're just talking cleverly to each other inside their bubble; still tone deaf to customer wishes, needs and comments. They waited YEARS to make a version with screen rotation, for instance; seemed to think iPads were just a fad. They disenfranchised customers with their lame migration to the "new" program. They still don't get that customers come first. Amazing...but not in a good way.
This app has improved our homeschooling efficiency by 400%. My kids love checking off their activities and being able to look back on archived lessons. Instead of spending the time to go over each class with each child I'm able to write it all out the night before and have them check in the next morning. Anything they don't understand they can just email respond back with their questions. This gives them writing experience and real world practice for starting their own business, which thanks to Basecamp and their training videos my kids are already on their way. They love asking if I saw their latest updates and uploads. I can't imagine life without this app. Thanks Basecamp!
Kudos to the Basecamp design team, this is certainly the best Basecamp app I've seen so far (though to be fair there were some real stinkers). I am sure they will continue to improve this product, but the one major thing that's missing right now is the ability to show to-do items with due dates in the calendar. This is huge for me as our team has quite a few tasks due each day but only a handful of what I would call "events" per month. It would also be helpful to have a weekly and monthly view for the calendar, but that is less vital. I look forward to being able to use this app when the calendar is improved, but for now I'm stuck with the web version so that I can see what's happening in all of my projects.
I'll say that as a first time Basecamp user its a pretty nifty tool. It wasn't my decision to use it for this project but I like how it puts all the information for one project into one place. I do have some criticism though. I wish the calendar was a little more intuitive and visually friendly. Or maybe it could sync with my calendar and keep me up to date automatically. The conversations are great tools, it keeps everyone in the loop, though if it feels cluttered with information and hard to tell who said what, or more so which conversation I want to click on. The last thing would be the files. If they offered folders, or groupings of files, or even collaborated with your drive or Dropbox account to put the files in there that would be great so I can organize them myself or make it easier to find what I'm looking for instead of a view similar to the way photos are viewed on my phone. Those are my major things with it, but a great tool for collaboration nonetheless.
It's truly been a game changer for me! I only gave it four stars because they take way too long to make changes that should've been very intuitive from the beginning. Come on guys if you really had 5000 people sign up last month you have enough money to make the obvious changes requested by now. For example there's no reason in the comment section that I should have to scroll all the way down to get to the place where I can make a comment. That being said, this app is absolutely incredible and does amazing things for productivity
My company has been using this website as a means to communicate between each other, clients, and pulling people in for collaboration. This website is very intuitive and easy to use.It seems like each day that I might be struggling with something on it, I can go to the learn more or updates page and there has been an update that explains exactly what I need help with.Once you get passed the general hesitation of people and properly train them on the site (if they need training since it's so easy to use), you can easily oversee projects, share designs, and collaborate with people who are unable to attend face to face meetings.Don't be afraid of making multiple projects instead of cramming all the smaller projects into one large project as each of the details and discussions tend to get buried pretty easily. Awesome stuff!
We have 50+ people on our team and the adoption of Basecamp has been phenomenal. The system is easy enough for everyone to learn and use and keeps important tasks out of individual email inboxes and on display for everyone involved in a project which helps improve accountability. Adding documents is very easy and moving between desktop and mobile is seamless. Fantastic value!
This has been a long while coming but the end product is well thought out.FEATURE REQUEST:The only thing I see missing is the option when I click "Open in" for a file in another app, Basecamp isn't one of the options so that I can send them into Basecamp. This would allow me to grab a file from Basecamp, open it in PDF Expert, sign it, then send the signed version back to Basecamp.
We run a kitchen remodeling company and do anywhere from 5-10 remodels a month... We were using our icalendar app, which was great as far as the info it could handle, but we were still relying on our memory A LOT! But now that we have Basecamp, we now have a tool to put everything into, schedule it and never have to rely on memory again! Except to remember to check Basecamp! :) love this software!!!
The designers at at Basecamp have created a very streamlined tool to communicate within and manage our projects. They continue to keep adding more ideas to be even better still keeping it absolutely simple just getting easier to manipulate, not an easy goal to obtain thank you for not losing sight of the products intention.
