The Battle for Wesnoth is a turn-based tactical strategy game with a high fantasy theme. Build up a great army, gradually turning raw recruits into hardened veterans. In later games, recall your toughest warriors and form a deadly host whom none can stand against! Choose units from a large pool of specialists, and hand-pick a force with the right strengths to fight well on different terrains against all manner of opposition.
50+ skirmish/multiplayer maps.
90+ minutes of original composed music.
200+ unit types in six major factions, all with distinctive abilities, weapons and spells.
200+ scenarios in 16 major campaigns — more than 100 hours of gameplay!
400+ add-ons (campaigns, maps) are waiting for you!!
We apologize for the iPhone (small-GUI) version delay. It's taking us much longer than we expected.
iOS 11 has been around for half a year. So, for our Wesnoth-deprived iPhone customers, we've rebuilt 1.10.5 version for iOS 11 as a temporary measure.
iPhone version of the latest Wesnoth is being worked on.

Best game I've played on AppStore
First off let me say there's a reason there are no one star reviews, this game is amazing. First off the game plays a lot like fire emblem (and the story lines are just as good!) but with the ability to recruit units and then level them up instead of just happening upon them (which still can happen). Off the bat you have access to 10 plus campaigns with each having 4-32 scenarios a piece. They all have vetting difficulties, and then you are asked to set the difficulty of the AI. This leads to a game that has lots of of replay ability and ability to compensate for the players ability to get better, meaning you won't get bored. Next this game has a multiplayer feature (I haven't used it yet, but it has it). The most notable thing this game offers is in it's add-ins button. All of the are FREE, yes FREE, and there are thousands of them. This ranges from new campaigns, multiplayer maps, units, and mods. I just picked up a campaign off the add ons that contains a 3 part campaign story, with 32 scenarios each. Overall this game is magnificent, and I believe it rivals Fire emblem, and completely destroys final fantasy (both on the iOS and other systems).
buy this game.
Read this review! UPDATED
Ok so first off let me say I have had this game since I was like 10, it was the first app I ever got on my first iPod. I now I have a 6s, I am 17 years old, and I still am engrossed in this game. Beat the 200+ vanilla scenarios? Play multiplayer. Tired of multiplayer and its many fan made game modes? (Unlikely) Then download some of the thousands of campaigns, unit packs, multiplayer maps etc for some more fun time. Done all that? Replay it on hard mode. If you follow this guide step by step it should take you a year or two to read this review. I cannot stress enough how amazing this game is. There is a reason there is only one person who didn't rate it 5 stars, and that's because they had to buy it again (worth it). Ok, love you all, good night. (BUY THIS GAME)

Updated. Please enjoy!
Still working to bring you an iPhone port of the latest release, meanwhile you can have 1.10.5 on iOS 11. Sorry for delay.
One of the best, if not the best
In terms of sheer hours of gameplay time, Wesnoth absolutely blows all the other strategy games in the App Store out of the water, with the POSSIBLE exception of (the much more expensive) Final Fantasy Tactics.
If you're looking for a challenging strategy/strategy RPG type game, look no further than Wesnoth. I've only scratched the surface of the content (I think I've knocked out about 4 campaigns so far) and it's easily worth the purchase price. If you're a fan of the genre, it'd be worth it at double the price.
