Nice but a few bugs and missing features

My biggest hangup with this is that I can’t paste images directly into a message. Dino (on linux) can do this and supposedly I can compile it on macOS but I have yet to spend the time. Interestingly, this is the big gripe I have with Google Voice as well. The old Hangouts app allowed pasting images but the current GV app lacks this simple but necessarily feature. I’ve also faced a bug where the app leaves a call accept box up when a call was answered on another device. And this seems to affect other things on the computer like shut downs and responding to other dialog boxes. I think there are some other bugs as well. But otherwise, Beagle IM has been working for me.

When I found out that XMPP existed, I went out and tried several different apps, like Monal, Pidgin, Spark, etc. But many of these clients either looked unappealing, lacked features I was looking for (like calling), or were buggy.I tried out BeagleIM first, but wasn't fond of the somewhat-clunky interface, so that could be improved. However, now I'm realizing that this is the only client that has a clear-cut way to call others with Jingle. Monal is 2nd, mainly because its UI looks unified with macOS but is even clunkier!Soyeah, all this app needs would be some UI improvements. Otherwise, the Mac has an option for XMPP in BeagleIM!

Could not connect to XMPP server to authenticate account. Gaslit me into changing my password for my XMPP account and still failed. Never got it to work. Confirmed other clients on Android and web were able to connect without issue. Must conclude it’s a Beagle-side problem.

Beagle (and Siskin IM for iOS) has made a lot of progress the last year or so, especially with regards to OMEMO support. Easily the best XMPP client for MacOS, just as Siskin is for iOS.
