BeatHawk 4+

The instrument sounds in this app are great and I learned the interface from scratch in under 30min with no previous experience using loop oriented music recording software and wrote the sketch of a blues rock song in about an hour and sent it to musician friends. All in all the quality of sounds and the ease of use earn this app a 10 star review. The only reasons I didn’t give it a 5 star review are the relative lack of Blues/Rock oriented instrument packs and I’d like their file exporting to be a bit easier. That was the only place I had troubles with using the app (there are simple workarounds and all, but this app has such amazing capabilities that why not just shoot for the stars). The piano sound is actually good and holds its own to other standalone apps, the baroque instruments are the same (blew my mind), the Hammond is gorgeous, and the electric pianos, Mellotron (different league than Module’s, but not as good as UVI’s own for their computer Workstation), blues guitars, and drum kits and all very useable. I haven’t even plugged a keyboard into this to write yet, but I can tell you it just makes it all easier to play. Extremely good app for the money and hard drive space. Really, combined with GarageBand and Hokusai, it’s everything you need for all app pro quality music production. 20 yrs ago, this would have been unimaginable. 10 years ago, still impossible. Now, it’s actually cheap! Lol. What a time to be alive.

I have only for stars because I believe nothing in this world is truly perfect and we all can get better from time to time out doing ourselves by improving achieving what we never thought we could. That being said, I think this app is on of the best out there. The sound library’s are phenomenal with both richness and quality samples. Going through the sounds made me feel like a child at a candy shop. I’m so excited for all the amazing music I will be making using this instrument. I was glad that the interface is very simple and easy to learn and a master. Lastly, I’m so excited for all the future updates and a new instrument preset packs Beathawk will add to there already massive library. A musician/composer/writer/singer, can never have enough sounds and presets to utilize. Always remember that. You can never have enough sounds. 😉

This app is dope, loved it since it dropped, but now I don’t use it at all, it’s easy to pick up and has a dope sequencer. It’s easy to turn a sound into a keyboard. For me an update is over due, I’d like to be able to sample like on koala app, just hold a pad down to capture a sample, I don’t have time to drop box stuff that I could just work on my desktop to do, really? I also want to be able to chop samples again like koala. If u can’t update it then come out with version 2 of this app, it can still be a groove box cause koala sequencer is dumb, u guys got it right , and it’s more accessible than beatmaker, cubasis, etc, but we just need to grab quick samples and chop them up. If u did that this would once again be the number one app for me, and I think for so many as it’s not a steep learning curve and it would be a fun workflow.
