Sperling’s Best Neighborhoods

I’m a big fan of Sperling’s Best Places, and am excited to have a Best Places App at all, but I think this app is that it’s over-specialized.

It’s geared to tell you about your immediate surroundings, not about a city in general. If I search for Savannah, Georgia, I get information about Tremont Park (one of its neighborhoods), and a list of other neighborhoods in Savannah, but not about Savannah as a whole.

This emphasis on neighborhoods within the city makes the app a good complement to the website, but also makes the app a fundamentally different experience than the website.

If the app is going to focus on neighborhoods, I think it would be a good idea to give the user the option to compare the neighborhood to the rest of the city, as well as comparing the city to the state and national averages.

Purchase Issue

I had a few issues with this app at the beginning. I will have to say the developers do respond within a few days. Gives you as much information as I think you would need to make an informed decision regarding moving.

One of the “Best Places to get ripped off you mean

Come on guys, I realize 2.99 isn’t a lot in the grand scheme of the app-us-sphere to unlock functionality but for what little you get for that 2.99 (and don’t even remove ads)
I agree with one of the other reviews, that the website has a better overall experience...
Very little user interface and no settings menu to speak of, very disappointed overall...
On a bright note there’s no wallet sucking subscriptions like most of the (we’ll call them “black-hole” apps)
