Beyond Pain is powered by the combined knowledge of a leading pain specialist physician and experts in mental health, physical therapy, stress reduction and wellness. Our evidence-based programs are built based on aggregated insights and optimized by real results, so we’re always improving.

Dr. Tracy Jackson, MD, PhD is board certified in anesthesiology, pain medicine, and addiction medicine. She helped draft the opioid prescribing guidelines for Tennessee and has lectured extensively on opioid issues both here and abroad.

Dr. Tobi Fischel, PhD is an integrative clinical health psychologist. On the national level, she has been the co-chair of the clinical committee of the consortium of academic health centers of integrative medicine and has been the psychologist representative for the task force developing core competencies for integrative pain medicine.

Beyond Pain contains practices that have been extensively researched individually and tested in combination in an in-person retreat setting by Relief Retreats. Retreat attendees experienced significant improvement in quality of life, pain behavior, depression, fatigue, sexual function, physical disability, pain interference, pain self-efficacy, pain catastrophizing and social satisfaction, using NIH PROMIS metrics. Over half the participants, who had taken opiods, eliminated opiods completely and the remaining participants lowered dosage or type of pain medication.

This app helps you to understand how the brain and body react to chronic pain and after years of chronic pain, the brain gets ‘stuck’ in this cycle of pain. The app shows you how to get out of this cycle of pain and helps you to create new pathways to divert your pain. The app takes all the complicated medical definitions and explains in common words how chronic pain trains the brain on how to react and handle pain. The tutorials are informative and show you how to practice the applications each day. Having chronic daily pain, it is hard to stay focused and even harder to remain calm and relaxed. The app shows you how to practice calming relaxation techniques with visuals provided. I have lived in daily chronic pain for ten years - I know what it is like to not want to get out of bed everyday. I tried these techniques - my pain no longer takes over my life

Best pain app ever!

I have lived with a lifetime of chronic pain and have tried more apps than I can count to see if I could get some extra help. Beyond Pain is the first one to give clear, interesting segments across several topics that make for a well-rounded program. There are currently a few small technical issues but they don’t really interfere with using the app successfully. Combining psychology, physical therapy/yoga and educational pieces, this app covers all of the bases successfully. The reminders are very useful to stay on track and give yourself time each day to work on feeling better, and the introspective sections have been good to gain insight into my own pain and what contributes to it. This is well put together and has already brought some success in the form of pain relief. Thanks to all of those involved in creating this!

This works!

Chronic pain was a part of my daily life for many years, from the moment I woke up until the moment I fell asleep from exhaustion. Recovering from chronic pain & the memorized patterns it sets up in your body & mind requires educating yourself and committing to daily practices that heal.

This app created by some of the best experts in the field of pain management, the mind-body connection and holistic healing pulls it all together in one interactive, proactive, easy-to-use tool. I highly recommend this, but you must be willing to put in the work! You heal when you engage. You can get your life back by following these practices!!
