Love it on my phone, tablet and laptop

This app works on all my devices and I use it every day. I love the reading plans, Bible Translations and study resources (love the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge). Great app to use for linking translations to Greek and Hebrew using Strong’s Concordance. Love the notes available like Dake’s.

Update: January 31, 2018 - I read a review where the reviewer said the resource window was slow to update on the Mac OS X version. I use this app on my MacBook Pro (maxed out memory for better performance in general) and I’m not seeing what I would call “slow” response in the resource window updates as I change verses. I use the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge regularly and find the response to be very good as I scroll through verses and click on the TSK cross references to read the related verses. I also use Strongs and commentaries where I get the same good response. It’s not instantaneous, but the updates happen in under 2 seconds. Performance can be affected by other apps open at the same time and the amount of available memory. I do have to watch one particular website (LinkedIn) in Safari - if that is open then CPU utilization is high and performance degrades. I would suggest using “Activity Monitor” (you’ll find this app in APPLICATIONS/UTILITIES) to see what is using resources if you experience performance issues.

Not Just 5 Stars Because It Is The Bible!

I have been using the Olive Tree application for MANY years. I think my first installment was on a Blackjack 2 phone: around 2007 or so. I have been building a library of Bible translations, maps, commentaries, theological references and other tools that I have been able to have at my finger tips. I now have it on my iPhone, iPad, and Macbook Pro. I have earned three Seminary degrees using this app. In 2015, I lead a team in planting an inner city congregation and every single sermon I have ever preached has been crafted using this app. More importantly, in my personal devotinal time, I make highlights, notes and even type prayers in right in the app: connected to particularly impactful portions of Scripture at any given time in my life. It is pure joy to reread those portions of Scripture. see those notes and prayers, and update the note when God has answered the prayer of I have greater understanding of a portion of Scripture that was challenging me in the past. There are some verses where I have five updates and it is a beautiful reminder of the faithfulness of God. It reminds me of seeing the notes in my great grandfather's old Bible: he was also a churh planter. I love this app and the team of folks that keep it up to date and running. God Bless!

For Serious Bible Study & Growth, could be improved

I've tried many Bible study apps in the past. This is by far my favorite. I love the number of translations, including Strong's translations, the number of Bible commentaries available, and the number of reading plans available. I really love the fact I can not only highlight Bible verses, but I can also highlight text in the Bible commentaries and reading plans. I can not only customize the color and style of the highlights, but I can also add tags, and categories to the highlights. Which means later I can look up everything I highlighted with a specific highlight, tag, and category. I can also add notes to Bible verses, Bible commentaries, and reading plans.

But the iOS version is better. In the iOS version, I love the fact I can highlight, add tags, and add to a category, all in the same window. In the mac version, I have to highlight, save. And then open another window to save the verse, add tags, and file into a category. The two aren't connected on the mac version, like it is in the iOS version.

If this is not ideal, then can a verse be temporarily underlined or highlighted when a saved passage is selected. Yes that passage is brought to the top, but temporarily underlining it with a dashed line for example, will allow the eye to more quickly jump to it.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for your review! We appreciate your positive and constructive comments. Will you report this issue with the Mac app to our Customer Support team at support@olivetree.com? They will be happy to help you further. Blessings!
