There are many things to like about building Graves. Their GPS is fairly good although I’ve gone to one cemetery and looked for the gravesite and it says I’m standing but it’s not there. I have a paid subscription and I have to watch. Let the app has me as advanced rather than basic. This causes a lot of wasted time and grief if you are advanced, it should leave that alone. If you’re standing in the cemetery and asked for directions, it should figure out where you are and not give you directions from your home.

Why would you respond to my review 3 years after I left it and tell me my phone is to old? Well three years ago my IPhone 4 was not old. Really? Maybe responding sooner then 3 years later would have been more helpful. App works great, until you want to upload your photos. I spent two hours taking photos, I was amazed how simple it was. I was not able to upload at the cemetery. The message kept saying unable to connect, then it would freeze and crash. Ok so I'm in the middle of a cemetery, maybe there is no signal(i doubt it) so I get out in the world, same thing. Get home same thing. I contact support, (they are nice though) they tell me to connect to a wifi connection? I am? I uninstall reinstall, I so want to use this app so I keep trying. Get out to the cemetery...I check, yup wifi signal, were good. Take about 20 photos, and figured, let me try to upload before I waste my time again. And guess what, starts to upload, freezes and crashes again. I have an Iphone 4, and I asked and it is supported. I give up, I'll try another time

The app has never frozen when I’ve been taking photos (as some others have experienced), but it for no apparent reason routinely loses a few photos per photo session. This means that I have to regularly check the photos in the app to make sure that none failed to save, before continuing on. It wastes a lot of time and battery power, and consequently I am rarely am able to capture as many photos as I should be able to in the time I have. Also, the app for no reason will frequently rotate my photos 90° or 180°, and the only way I can fix them is after the fact (it would be ideal if I could fix them before hitting the green “use” button in the camera portion of the app). The photos that have been rotated after the fact then have a squashed look. Very irritating. Also, I always request 14 days to transcribe my own photos, but my records are hardly ever held for me for even a few hours. Consequently, many of my photos have been poorly transcribed.

I love using this app, and the cause it is being used for is admirable. But as one of the latest people using the app, users should mind a couple of quirks when recording headstones.First off, since it uses both your camera to take the photo, and your location to record where the headstone is, the app drains your battery FAST. I could usually get about 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours worth of photo taking before needing to charge. Make sure you have some method of charging your phone before starting for a better experience.And second off, the Uploading of photos. After you finish taking your photos, you can upload them to the website’s database for public use. The app uploads one picture at a time; and depending on how many photos were taken, and the signal strength of the area, uploading all of your photos will take anywhere from half as long to twice as long as it took to take the photos. Another thing about the upload to keep in mind, is that you HAVE to keep the app open while it is uploading, or it will pause the upload. And once again, the process eats through your battery very quickly.So overall, it’s a good app, you just have to be mindful of a few quirks and for goodness sake, keep an eye on your battery.
