About BIRD GENIUS
Learning to identify birds can be daunting. Let’s face it, they don’t sit still, they’re often tiny, or far away, and they sometimes seem to look exactly alike. What’s more, the American Birding Association (ABA) Checklist includes 1,103 of them! That’s a lot of birds and a lot of potential confusion.
BIRD GENIUS helps you learn to identify birds and get acquainted with them up close. The flashcard method remains a proven tool for learning, and this app will be useful for beginning birders, ornithology students, or anyone who simply wants to improve their ID skills. Experienced birders, meanwhile, will find it surprisingly fun to test themselves. Addictive, even.
Another notable feature of BIRD GENIUS is the quality of photographs included. (From compensated photographers, by the way.) The passionate artists listed below spend countless hours in the field and pursue their art in the hope of spreading an appreciation of birds and the habitats that support them.
The ABA Area roughly includes the United States, Canada, and their offshore regions. If you’re in this area—or thinking about visiting—this app is for you! The BIRD GENIUS team will be working on other parts of the world soon!

Good, but for the price needs more birds and more game options
I love quizzing myself on the birds! I wish there were more birds and more varieties of games to play. I’ve only had the app 10 days or so, and I’ve gotten bored with it. I feel like I paid too much for what I get. Is there a way you could partner with Quizlet to offer more game varieties?
Great resource, beautiful photos!
This app is great for beginners and experienced “bird nerds” alike! The pictures alone make the app worth it; the accurate and succinct information is a bonus!
Great concept but pictures take too long to load especially between each picture which is frustrating.
Developer Response ,
Thanks for the review! It’s true, sometimes the load times can be slow at the beginning. What’s happening is that the photos are downloading to the app in an on-demand way (as you begin to use the app). This avoids the need for a massive initial download or the need for download packs. After the initial slowness, the photos are downloaded and the app should be very fast. We hope this is a compromise that will be worth it in the long run. Regardless, we really appreciate your feedback.
