I saw more birds in four days in Washington state than I did in six months in Washington, DC

This app is great. When I first started planning my four-day birding trip to Washington I was at a loss as to where to go. While the nearly 400 stops listed in this app can be overwhelming, the seasonal suggestions and species lists really helped me narrow it down. Over the course of four days I stopped at close to a dozen different stops that I found through the app. The app gives information on driving directions, the best trails/routes, the best time of year to visit, and what you can expect to see, all of which I found to be extremely helpful. I also loved the find stops near me option -- this was useful when I wanted to find another stop near somewhere I had just been birding, but also helped me find places like Rainbow Falls State Park when I just had to get off the highway and get in a little more birding before dark.

At the end of my four days I had seen 107 different bird species, 33 of which were life birds for this relatively novice birder. That's more than I saw in the first half of 2013 in my home "state" of Washington, DC, where I bird at least a few times a week and nearly every day of spring migration. Overall, if you live in or will be traveling to Washington I highly recomend this app.

Too little free content

This app seemingly exists only for in-app purchases. Little quality content that cannot be found elsewhere. Listing ability is useless for the tech-savvy birder. This was a download and immediate delete for me.

Birding Trail Washington

Fantastic app. I love having all seven WA Birding Loop maps always at hand. Wherever I am, I can select "Stops Near Me" and find nearby places to bird. I just listened to a BirdNote story on Point No Point, and in seconds had a map, directions, description and bird list at my fingertips. I highly recommend Birding Trail for anyone looking for places to watch birds in WA, or just interested in discovering new places to enjoy nature. Next to my smartphone field guide, this is my favorite bird app.
