Bits is an app for professional stand-up comedians. It’s designed to keep your writing process fast and organized so you can focus on your comedy instead of the tools. Here's what it offers:

*WRITE BITS*
Whenever a funny thought pops into your brain, you can quickly add it to your infinite bits list. Just open the app, hit that plus button, and start writing. All your bits are saved securely*, instantly, and automatically so you won’t have to worry about that.

*ADD NOTES*
Writing the perfect bit comes with lots of experimentation and small details to remember. To help you with the ongoing process of adjustments, each bit has its section of notes. Bits and notes always come together so you won’t be able to lose important notes you’ve written to yourself.

*BUILD SETS*
We all wish for the perfect set. The set will catch the crowd on its first bit and finish with resounding laughter. This glory set is the easiest to build and manage. You can add bits to existing sets or create a new set and add bits to it. Simply drag & drop to reorder the bits and have them ready one by one. Move jokes up and down, remove and add until you find that perfect balance of laughs.

*ON STAGE MODE*
The old days of paper pages on a stool are over! When you’re up there on stage, you can switch to the on-stage mode and have your set ready for your performance. The screen will remain turned on and all black. While you perform, you can swipe right or left to indicate if the joke did well or not so you can come back to it later and reshape it the way you think best.

*ORGANIZE WITH LABELS*
Planning a Christmas set? And how about those airport bits? Or where did you put all of your funny bits about your dad? Oh, they’re all labeled! Label each bit with any label(s) you want. Either apply labels from the bit screen or add bits to an existing label from the labels screen. Access by bit the themes you think are most suitable for your next set.

*SET STATUSES*
Writing a bit is a process. It starts with a thought and moves up the ladder until it’s done. Draft, done, or gold - these are predefined statuses for your bits which will help you plan ahead and easily see which bits need more work, which can be performed and get laughs, and which are so good that you can close and get max cheers from your crowd.

*TIME YOUR BITS*
You got only 5 minutes, 5:10 at most. Which bits can be squeezed in to fit that time limitation? Oh, that’s easy. Each bit is generated with an approximate time it’ll take you to perform it, but you can always tweak it and make sure you can plan every bit to fit perfectly into its time slot.

I know everyone's busy with the Olympics, but I was busy improving Bits!

- The shows area has been revamped to allow you to plan future comedy shows

- I've fixed some terrifying bugs in the navigation so you can sleep well at night

- The comedy gym area will push you to write more bits on a daily basis and improve your writing skills.

- Export any individual set to any external app you wish.

- The app now feels much faster and more reliable. I've minimized the loading spinner to keep you moving seamlessly.

- Adding bits to sets/labels (and vice versa) is now more intuitive. You can simply checkmark everything you want to add or remove.

- You can add new sets and labels directly from the bit properties area.

- If you wish to add a bit to a label/set that doesn't exist yet, you can create it on the spot.

Best comedy writing app on the market by far

I love this app. I’ve tried a bunch of different ones for joke organizing, but The Gag is the only one that was user friendly and up to date. When I had trouble downloading my material, I was helped immediately and was able to restore it. Can’t say enough good things about the app, definitely worth it to pay the $10/year or whatever it was. My only suggestion to make it better would be to allow viewing/editing of the gag contents when they’re in a set. Other than that, this is my favorite app on my phone.

P.S - use the on-stage mode in order to see the full text of a gag in a set list :)

So far so good, but a few tweaks would make it amazing

This app is great, but there a few things I’d like to see added:

- I wish you could add a general title for each gag, and then when you open the gag by tapping the title, you could see checkboxes or bullet points next to each note you make in the gag, instead of it all looking like everything typed is all the same thought

- I’d love the option to have labels and gags both listed on the same page, and once you add a gag to a label, it moves into the label “folder” and isn’t mixed in with all your other gags in other labels or that are unlabeled.

- The ability to custom organize your gags on the gags page instead of only being able to use the ones the app shows in the drop down menu. Would love the ability to just tap and drag or move and order my gags (or gags and labels if the second thing I listed is addressed) in the way is like to see them that makes them easy to find for me.

Other than those, this has been a great tool so far. Hopefully we see this continue to grow and get better and that this app keeps rockin’ and rollin and becomes a must have for every comedian.

I left a previous review with 1 star. I would remove that if I could figure out how. My iPhone had been broken and when reloading the app on a mew phone my bits wouldn’t download onto the new device. There was a challenge with getting help. I think because the initial response to my request for help may have been an auto response things got mixed up. Regardless. Amitay spent the better part of a SATURDAY morning helping me restore my lost data. I couldn’t be more grateful. If I can ever remove my previous review (made in frustration) I will.
