20 Best iPad Apps This Week

“What makes the app so unique is its engaging and immersive presentation of an original story with animated illustrations and visual and audio effects that take over what feels like a standard leather-bound novel, with turnable pages. The result is something rather special.”

“I tried out the first chapter and was blown away. I say again: Black Jack is the ebook experience your iPad was made for…I can honestly say this is the most fun reading experience I’ve had on the iPad.”

“Black Jack: A Moving Novel (Free) by Sonar Studios, Inc. is how a book on an iPad should be done…It’s more than words on a screen. Reading a moving novel is a way to immerse yourself in the text. You begin to experience the book, rather than just read it…There’s more that I wish I could explain about this app. I can’t cover all the features that it offers. Most of all, I can’t adequately convey how different it is to read a book in this format. I can’t take my experience and hand it over to you. All I can tell you is that the experience is worth it and that you won’t be sorry you took the dive.”

This is amazing. Just install the book now, and read this while it's downloading.

Okay: First off, it's an amazing story, that's what matters. When my buddy recommended I read it, it thought it would have a bunch of bells and whistles but the story would be meh. I was totally wrong. I loved the characters, the fight scenes were cool, and there are some great twists along the way.

Second, I've seen a lot of ebooks that have effects and animations, but Black Jack is the first one to get it right. Everything enhances the story, from the audio that stays subtle in the background to the big animations that jump out of nowhere and take you by surprise. Even the little effects like the pixie-lights moving over the page that SHOULD be distracting aren't; they just make the world feel like it is coming to life around you. It makes reading better (and I never thought I'd say that.)

Downsides: The book is expensive for an app, but about right for a big fantasy book so I don't know how to feel about that. Also I wish there were more big animations throughout.

Bottom Line: I wish all my books were like Black Jack. Give me a sequel please.

The Standard for all future eBooks

A compelling story with a cast of well developed characters that keeps you wanting more. Each chapter draws you further in and leaves you wondering what will happen next. A fantastic story encased in technology that enhances your reading experience. The ambient sounds of a crackling fire or gentle breeze makes you feel like your in the story without being annoying. Pick this up if your a fan of a good story that takes eBook technology to the next level.

Amazing Blend of Fantasy and Finding Yourself

To a casual reader, this is an excellent fantasy novel, with pirates, dragons, magic, undead monsters etc. But as soon as you start to understand the core idea behind the story. Get into the mindset of protagonist, Jack, You immediately feel this novel is not about fantasy any more. It's about finding your true self, fighting the moster of fear, finding courage, find your passion and how to hold up when world throws you into deepest pits of hopelessness.

Even if you have all the knowledge in the world you will find out that you still know nothing.

Even the most powerful warrior needs a friend, love and some humility to keep his honor. This is the theme behind this moving novel. It will move something inside your mind, may be a long lost passion in depth of your memories.

A must have.
