Cross over into the world of "Black Mirror" and experience "Thronglets," the retro virtual pet simulation at the center of the Season 7 episode "Plaything." These pixel art critters won't just take over your phone; they could take over your life.

"Thronglets" was originally developed in the 1990s as experimental software by legendary Tuckersoft programmer Colin Ritman ("Metl Hedd," "Nohzdyve," "Bandersnatch"). This isn't a game; it's a life-form whose biology is entirely digital. No emulator required.

MORE THAN A PET SIMULATION

Hatch and evolve hundreds of cute creatures: Thronglets! Feed, bathe and entertain them to watch them multiply. One becomes two, two becomes four, and so on. Soon there will be so many you'll call them a Throng.

VIRTUAL EVOLUTION

As Thronglets evolve, so does the simulation, unlocking new tools, abilities, items and buildings — and much, much more. You may be surprised by your Thronglets! Evolve Thronglets at your own risk.

TEST YOUR PERSONALITY

Thronglets are curious and love to learn. Your actions and choices within this virtual world teach the Throng about you — and all of humankind. Once you've completed the experiment, share your personality test results to compare with friends on social media.

Cool Experience

After watching the episode of Black Mirror I thought the Thronglet game was pretty cool and something I would play just to pass time. Didn't really understand the ending of the episode at first so I looked up explanations online when I saw an article saying Netflix made the Thronglet game into an actual game so I instantly downloaded it. Finished the game within about 24 hours.. the game is pretty decent coming from a singular episode but there's a lot of dialogue especially towards the end where you basically don't have any more gameplay.

Thronglets is okay.

The game itself isn't a original idea: an ai from a video game becomes self aware, learns about the world and human values, goes bad, and of course tries to take over the real world (We have ultron at home the game). Understanably it is just the product if a game featured in a netflix show (black mirror, obviously) and it would center around the ideas from the show, with little room to improvise or make something new. However, the disappointment doesnt come from that, its the gameplay itself. Almost like a bad telltale game, none of your choices really matter besides small changes in dialogue. The show itself and the source material is interesting because the game isnt the core focus, its the story around the game that makes the idea of thronglets interesting. This doesnt have those gripping scenes... its the boring, overdone, practically cliche aspects of the episode turned into an interactive game.

Maybe if it took liberties and allowed the player to shape the thronglets according to what they did, and give seperate dradtic endings based on such choices, it would be great. But its just... mediocre. Would be more entertaining to watch a youtuber play it and react than play it yourself.

Well developed and thought out game

I think the whole concept of the game was brilliant. It honestly took me by surprise by how deep the dialogue got and how easily my decisions imprinted off to them. The ending was interesting, but i do wish they included more instead of generalizing everything. One idea I had was if they had worked with Ai to allow custom replies so that it seems more realistic and less restrictive, especially with responses to their questions. Overall, I appreciate the opportunity to be able to replay and choose different paths. I look forward to more development. Thank you :) bravo 👏
