This Black Women in History application features biographical sketches of prominent African-American women who have not only contributed to the civil rights movement, but have also distinguished themselves as leaders in the struggle for freedom for all people of color.
Civil Rights - Many extraordinary women played significant roles in the Civil Rights Movement and beyond.
Arts & Entertainment - Black women who made entertainment history, paving the way for the next generation.
Education - The educational advancements of African American women have played a critical role in empowering not just communities of color, but the global community as well.
Sports - Black trailblazers such as Alice Coachman, Althea Gibson and Wilma Rudolph helped pave the way for later generations.
There is also a Search feature within each section. Also, you can choose from a number of musical selections for listening.
Hopefully you will find this app both educational and entertaining, and you will encourage young people in particular to use these abstracts to learn more about the history and culture of the African-American community.
