Terrible Since Upgrade

I’ve been a BlueLA consumer and advocate way back since it’s debut in Los Angeles. Its been a helpful resource for myself and other community members however with this most recent upgrade and migration to Blink Mobility it’s has been a nightmare! I’ve rolled with the punches early on but to say that the glitches and new app are less than operational is accurate. I’m grateful to have use of it through the pandemic to have had some amazing customer service support but truly the app wasn’t ready back when it migrated on January 2021 and it’s still having major issues now nearing March 2021. Currently on the line with support trying to access a car that rental has started in. Not able to unlock car, no where on app does it show. Removed and redownloaded app thinking that would be solution but no. Support canny even unlock car. I called ahead to ensure things would run smoothly and they aren’t. Additionally we aren’t able to reserve ahead like we used too. The app isn’t accurate in showing where cars are so I still call to confirm before making the hike to the car sites. It’s frustrating that this service has gone through a “upgrade” and the app has been anything but that.

Not so good since BlueLA has been upgraded with Blink Mobility.

I loved this wonderful car rental service when it was BlueLA. Although the cars were older, they were extremely reliable, available and could be scheduled in advance, and hassle free. It was such a wonderful blessing to have a service like this in LA. However, since it’s become BlueLA powered by Blink Mobility, renting these cars have turned into a nightmare. It really makes me sad. ☹️

With the update, the cars have kicked me off of my rental - the customer service reps weren’t able to restart my rental - so the entire time I had the car I couldn’t unlock it with the app forcing me to call customer service every time I needed to get back into the car. Since you can no longer rent a car in advance, there’s always a fight to find an available car, making this service pretty unreliable. One time a customer service rep sent me to three different locations to find a car - each time I arrived at a location someone had just rented the car.

In the end, the original BlueLA company holds a special place in my heart because it provided a wonderful service for the community. I truly hope that BlueLA powered by Blink Mobility can get their act together so they can continue and further enhance what the original BlueLA started.

Not helping

When I needed a car for a COVID vaccine appointment, I monitored the app during the day to get an idea about what was available. It wasn’t until I actually tried to rent a car that I was informed about new pandemic time restrictions which meant I wouldn’t be able to use a car. I have no argument with the restrictions, but I needed to know that as soon as the app opens, not when I click “rent.” To make it worse, the notice about the restrictions is unstable, disappearing after a second, making it difficult to read.
