Ever wanted to know more ships and boats, or track a vessel around the globe? Boat Watch lets you spot and identify boats and ships in an instant.
An optional In-App purchase even sends you alerts when a boat you track sets sail or arrives - perfect for people with loved ones at sea, for tracking ferries and rescue vessels - or following cargo across the world!
Boat Watch is a free app, which offers...
* Spot any boat or ship via real-time AIS network
* See the name, type and destination of each vessel
* Set any boat as a favorite, and track it on the map
* Search and find boats and places
Optional In-App Upgrade Purchases adds...
* Full boat information - picture, speed, where its from, etc.
* Show track for boat's journey
* Set multiple favorite boats, to find them easily
* Get alerts when a tracked boat arrives or departs
* Augmented Reality. View a ship and see its name and details
* OpenSeaMap charts with buoys, lighthouses & shipping lanes
Boat Watch now gives you the option to buy official NOAA nautical charts for the US, so you get the same view of the ocean as the ship's navigator. See the shipping channels, buoys, lights and hazards and why a ship is taking a particular route.
Our ship coverage is global and amongst the best in the world. You can find out how our system works and check our coverage here :-

Ratings and Reviews
It’s frustrating when I’m looking at the ships from shore and they’re not showing up on the screen. Happens all the time. Not much help when I can see four ships and the app can only see two of them.
I wouldn’t trust this in fog or just ship-watching
Not dependable. I know there are at least 6 ships within 20 miles. There’s no ships in the entire Great Lakes according to this yet I’m able to download apps. What gives?
Where are the ships? I see a thousand footer but guess you don’t? What really is this app for?
Developer Response ,
Hi - sorry you aren't seeing ships you expect, we rely on shore stations to provide coverage, and unlike airplane spotters this requires line of sight. We provide a free version so that you can check your coverage without risk. We do cover some areas of the Great Lakes, so I would recommend retrying, as its possible we had some system outage at the time you looked. We would not recommend you use Boat Watch for navigation - please use the correct equipment for that.
Tried the upgrade because the free addition showed only a few ships in harbors and none moving. Even though I could see them. The upgrade shows no ships. Again I can see them. Waste of money
