Description
The Book Retriever Scanning App is the companion app for use with the web-based Book Retriever application. You must have a Book Retriever account to use this app. Note that if you have the original Book Retriever app, that account will not work with this new app.
The Scanning App allows for easy entry of books into your Book Retriever account by scanning the standard EAN barcode for the 13 digit ISBN, and supports custom Book Retriever barcodes. Student Mode allows your students to manage their own check-ins and check-outs by locking the app into student mode with a PIN.

Ratings and Reviews
Meh
I like the online version of this app, but I am not a fan of this at all. I feel like the developers tried to cut corners to make it easier on mobile, but it just stinks. Many of the books are not recognized, or the ISBNs are not recognized, which requires manual input. I cannot access how many copies of one book I have easily, and when I scan items in, there isn’t the option, as of right now, to select how many copies I have. There isn’t that option online either until AFTER I enter the book, which is frustrating when I have 6 copies of one book. I don’t think the $36/year is too bad, but I definitely expect more. As a teacher, I already have a limited amount of time, so I want something that is quick, easy, and reliable. There is definitely room for improvement here.
The potential is AWESOME
PLEASE, PLEASE invest in this app.
The interface is nice, and I LOVE how quick and easy it was to add titles.
What needs MAJOR work is the development of the app. If you put the time in, you’re going to have something special.
LISTEN to the teachers and HEAR their suggestions, then add them.
Make a separate student portal.
Make the home screen customizable (I would like to have them reflect the shelves in my classroom - I made each shelf a “location” and they are in order alphabetical order, THEN in that area, by author’s last name.
Make sure that the location AND author’s last name is on the label.
FIX THE APP!!!!
PLEASE!
I will keep my subscription for a year because I like it. But if you don’t upgrade it, I will dump it.
Again, I like it, but it needs WORK.
I’ll be happy to re-review it when you upgrade it.
Exactly what I was looking for
I’ve been looking for an easy way to maintain my class library, and this seems to be exactly what I need. I’m not thrilled with the cost, but this is cheaper than losing the books, so I’ll deal with it. I’m also a little bit worried about the app or online version changing down the road and losing all the time I’ve spent putting in my class library. Apparently that happened to people with the old version of the app, so it doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. So far, so good, though.
