When I’m trying to read a manga, it doesn’t work it only lets you look at five pages and then it just doesn’t let you read the rest of it and mind you. It just skipped straight into one chapter all the way at the end or beginning and it doesn’t let you read the rest for instants. I’m trying to read volumes six of chainsaw man so when I press on it, it just keeps on skipping over to the end when I’m trying to read it I deleted a completely good app just for this app because I wanted to read it with color but I’m gonna download a bag manga plus because it’s better. This app is trash and I hope nobody downloads this please before you download an app read the reviews.
Hello! We apologize for any inconvenience caused by our App. In order for us to look into the details of your issue, can you kindly send us an inquiry? Thank you very much in advance!
Before, you were able buy the Japanese version of mangas and books in the app, but now they’ve made it complex. If you want the Japanese version in the app, you will need to change your device language setting to Japanese. Otherwise, you will need to use a browser and go to the Japanese store for Bookwalker. I don’t know why they made it more inconvenient to purchase the Japanese version. Could it not just be a simple option in app to default to a certain version of the store?Previously, I would overlook the poor UI, slow load times, and crashes because this app allowed easy purchases of the Japanese versions, but now I would not recommend it. Until they bring back the ease of purchasing the Japanese version in app, I will just buy physical copies or look somewhere else. It’s strange how they would make it harder for people to buy their products…Some good things is that it has a large category of mangas/books to buy. They also give you previews (like the first couple of page) so you can get an idea if it will be something you’d like. I don’t really get the bookshelf part of the app because it is easier to just view your library and organize it by series, title, or author. Reading is easy, plus you can zoom (useful if there is small text or using smaller devices). Searching and bookmarking is simple too.
Hello. Thank you for your comment. And sorry for the inconvenience about the app and store. We take your comment seriously and will share it internally.
I’ve used this app to purchase light novels and manga in Japanese for years. It used to be possible to select the Japanese language store even with the UI set to US English. However as of current version, the app automatically switches between Global and Japanese-language stores based on the device UI language. As far as I can tell, there is no way to set the language within the app (the language selection on login only affected the login/account pages) Fortunately my existing purchases are still accessible within the app, and it’s fairly quick to switch iOS UI language nowadays so I can still purchase books in Japanese with some extra steps. But it does get me worried about future access. I hope this isn’t a precursor to dropping access to Japanese language ebooks for those of us living outside of Japan.

TLDR-Not a reliable reader app for downloading books to read in places with weak or no internet connection. Otherwise quite nice. The authentication procedure needs redesigning. The app works fine if there is either a strong internet connection or the device is in airplane mode, but will hang indefinitely on startup if there is very weak or no internet connection (and device is NOT on airplane mode) and often leads to “Authentication Failure” messages, prompting a log-in attempt. It is impossible to log in again if there is no internet connection, so this means the app completely locks you out of even your already-downloaded books without a good internet connection.BookWalker, if you really think it necessary to run a dang authentication check every time the app opens, at least do it in the background after the bookshelves and book list are accessible so the downloaded books can still be read. If the authentication check is part of some overzealous DRM enforcement, you can prevent the user from downloading new books if the check fails or hangs on a bad connection. Just please, let downloaded books be reliably accessible without an internet connection. Other than the app’s basic failure as a portable reader platform without an internet connection, the rest of the app is quite nice. Turning pages in an e-book using a curl animation is such a pleasant experience. However, the curl page turn on text books would definitely be improved if the current page background color was also applied to the intermediary animation, instead of a temporary white background that blinds you as you turn the page if you are reading at night with a black page background.
Hello. Thank you for your comment. And sorry for the inconvenience. We will continue to improve the app so that you can enjoy reading eBooks. We're looking forward to your next visit on BOOK☆WALKER.
I use Bookwalker for most of my manga and light novels but the "feature" where you have to either use the web browser or change your system language to access the Japanese store is frustrating. You used to be able to switch between them freely. It doesn't take long to switch your system language, and if you're reading Japanese books it's probably not too big of a deal to have it in Japanese permanently, but it's just an unnesseary step that makes the app slightly more hostile and gives benefit to any competition. For the developer responder, having to swtich system language or operate outside of the app to use the app is not a fix, it's a hack. Please fix the issue.

Bookwalker is an amazing service to keep all my manga together. Building bookshelves is great. However, it is extremely troublesome to download new chapters and volumes to add to those bookshelves. Can’t download in the background. I have to keep the app open while it downloads and those downloads take an eternity. I would like it to auto-download content but there are no settings to control that function. If I haven’t downloaded a chapter or volume, then I have to wait for an unending loading bar that takes forever regardless of wifi or hotspot connection to read. The website is faster. Extremely faster. The swipe bar is ALWAYS present! ALWAYS. This is so abnoxious and frustrating.I would simply love it if I could queue up the downloads and not be restrained to the app, able to use my ipad as I please while they download.I would love it even more if the swipe bar went away when reading.I would love it even more if my bookshelves synced across devices. But without these things I feel bogged down trying to read what I bought and am discouraged from buying more because of how much it becomes a chore to manage.
Hello. Thank you for your comment and we are sorry for the inconvenience .Unfortunately, you need to keep the app open while downloading. You can however read an eBook while downloading it and activate Auto Dowload for preorders from settings [Server management].Regarding bookshelf synchronization, there's a feature on the app that enables the user to you can sync across devices. Please follow these steps:1. Navigate to Settings > Bookshelf - Library Settings > Synced Library Information > Switch ON "Automatic Sync for Library" Select "Sync with device information".2.Open "Save Library to Server" Select "Save Library on Device to Server" and input a library name. This will save your entire Bookshelf to the server and you can now sync it to other devices.3. On your other device, navigate to Settings > Bookshelf - Library Settings > Synced Library Information - Switch ON "Automatic Sync for Library"Select "Sync with server information". This will sync the bookshelf from your main device. After completing above steps, your Bookshelves will automatically syncronize.Hope these steps resolve your issue.
