Constant late fees
The app consistently says some items are due the day after they are actually due. I really want to rely on the app (instead of on a jumble of slips of paper receipts like a derelict old cat lady) for my due dates, but am getting tired of paying fines for things that are one day past. There is no way to tell which are due tomorrow and which are actually due today (or yesterday!). Our family of six loves using the library, but as kids are far more adept at taking things out than putting them back, it's becoming impossible for me as chief bookie to know what is due when.
We do love the ability to put things on hold and have them ready for pickup. For that, the app is invaluable. Unfortunately I'll have to revert to my old receipt shuffling ways if I'm ever to get them all checked back in on time and have enough cash left over to keep the cats well stocked in their fancy feast.
Version 4.1 & 4.2
It now works with iOS 14; I don’t have any major problems with it beyond some wonky scrolling. Version 4.2’s scrolling is different but still odd.
Good function, a little disappointment…
This app works with your library and your personal library account (provided the library utilizes the Sirsi system). The search function works, and its generally faster than my library's webpage. I would like it if it would incorporate links within individual records to search for more by author or subject. It would also be great to limit media by type (book, e-book, etc.) The hold function also works very smoothly, and will automatically choose the destination as your designated home library. I haven't really used the e-book or suggested reading functions, so I can't comment on those.
The account feature is handy, and the ability to renew books and modify holds is a plus. The only point that the library website has over this is a third notification category of 'in transit' in addition to the 'waiting' and 'available.' The one big detraction for me is that there is no integration with the iOS notification system, which is what I was hoping for when I downloaded the app. It will show you books due and holds available, but _only_ if you open the app, which doesn't really help this occasionally forgetful borrower.
