Description

BookTracker is an easy to use way of keeping track of books that you own, have read or have listened to. Because of BookTracker's flexibility, it is a great tool for both collectors who need to record lots of data and for the book enthusiast who just needs the basics. It includes fields for such information as title, author, copyright date, purchase price, location, last read date, etc. There are also custom fields that can be renamed as needed.

BookTracker allows you to place your books in an unlimited number of groups that you create yourself. You can also choose the layout of your booklist, showing the fields that are most important to you. The booklist can be sorted by any of the fields that you have chosen. There is also a filtering function that quickly displays specific titles or authors. BookTracker's printing functionality will print your customized booklist including the current sort and filter.

BookTracker has a convenient lookup feature to retrieve book details from the web.

Good Quick Catalog

I just downloaded this to catalog a set of books donated to my school. The ISBN auto lookup makes entering books easy. You can set preferences to default to ISBN so you just type in the number, hit Enter, and the book information comes up if found. Custom field are on the second data entry screen, and they can be labelled and added to the list view. Export is only to XML; I would like a CSV export or something to get it into Excel. It would also be cool if the there was a setting to export the images that come in with the ISBN lookup. Search feature works. No manual or documentation, but the app is easy to use if you just try things (like writing over the custom field labels, or hitting the Plus icon in the lower right corner to Save and Add.)

Great simple solution

I really like this program for its ease of use, simple design, and customizabilitiy. Excellent options and custom tabs -- I just wish that the software would recognize articles in the title of a book when it sorts them alphabetically. That would be a great, simple update! Still, wonderful app for anyone with a book collection, much simpler and cheaper than Delicious Library, and much better than bargain options. I recommend it.

Keeping track

I used another app to track my reading for years, but with Mountain Lion it ceased working and it is no longer supported. BookTracker is very similar, easy to use and does what my previous app did and more. I wish it had a field showing the number of books read, to be read, and total. Also, since my old app only exported in tab delimited, not XML, it woud have saved a lot of time copying from the old app if BookTracker imported tab delimited format. Also, great support if there is an issue with very prompt response. I’m very glad that it is now a 64 bit app so it will have a future given Apple’s MacOSX pending switch to only support 64 bit apps..
