I have spent countless hours reading hundreds of novels from Bookwalker. It’s nice to have the store and reader integrated into the same app, but that’s where the positives end. On the store side my wishlist list is replaced with a less transparent “favorite” list. No longer have an inbox to tell me about deals, upcoming releases/ preorders in series I enjoy, and the “purchase sequel” list is no where to be seen making it more difficult to continue longer stories. On the reader side the organization is completely gone. No “bookshelves” to customize and manage my books, just a long list with inadequate filters especially when missing “read, reading, and finished” filters. Not sure yet but the books don’t seem to be downloaded to the device and may need a connection to load as you read; not a major issue unless you pre download books when you know you’ll be without a stable connection.Releasing the new app in this condition is ridiculous. It “looks” nice and sleek, but lost all the actual functionality of the previous version. I plan to stay on the old reader for as long as I can. I hope they can fix this clearly unfinished app/site.
I’m done with Bookwalker

I have used the original app for years. Purchased over $500 worth of books. This change has ensured I never spend another cent here.I used the previous app to read books I purchased at home while having bad or no cell service after downloading the books through WiFi. Not only is that explicitly impossible now, but the app constantly spams you with repeated ads that take up the full screen you have to close, you can no longer sort by series, and it seems to have been done specifically to prevent account sharing (you know, something you can do with physical books of the same price). Were they US based, I would sue for a refund of every purchase, but given that this isn’t possible, the best I can do is tell everyone not to give them any more money, and to never again do so myself
Very Confusing and Frustrating Switch

When Bookwalker said it was switching to a new site I was intrigued, after experiencing it I’m just annoyed. The only way this is salvageable is if they are still in the process of putting things in, but if that’s the case then why launch so incompletely? Where are the wishlists? The bookcases? Why are there so many pop up ads? Why do the tags make me feel less like I’m on A03 and not a professional book selling platform? Not to mention the mess-up and confusion surrounding pre-orders. If Bookwalker wants to continue professional business I’d like to not feel like the app is intentionally sabotaging my desire to read and purchase books on it.
It's fine. Not great, but not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

At first I was a bit upset because, after migrating my account from Bookwalker Global, it seemed that none of my purchases transferred. I was able to find advice online that directed me to check my restricted content settings, and I found that Mature Content and images were off by default. After toggling them on, my prior purchases appeared were they should be. Overall, I wish it were easier to more accurately sort available titles, and I wish I could purchase japanese language content now that the original app is region-locked.
