Description

Booky Call is a revolutionary book discovery app disguised as a dating app. By combining the psychology and functionality of dating apps with a creative book review in the form of a "humanized" dating profile, we help readers swipe right and engage with books in an innovative way.

Each book review crafted by our staff of writers reveals answers to questions such as:
- Who should swipe right on me?
- What are my most attractive traits?
- What do I spend a lot of time thinking about?
- What will we eat/drink on our first date?
- Tell me about your book daddy/mama.

Each review also contains a short clip of the audio book (if available) to help you make your decision of whether or not to take the book on a "date."

Users can swipe right on books they are interested in and send the book to your Direct Messages to further engage with the book. You are then given the opportunity to purchase the physical, digital or audio version of the book.

Enable your notifications and receive custom "Booky Calls" twice a week with up to three hand-selected books looking for a "book-up" based on your personal profile preferences.

Almost perfect

This app is pretty fascinating so far. Little tweaks of improvement would render it flawless. There should be an option to correct wrong information in the app itself. It would also be nice to not have to answer a question when swiping left on a book. If you need to mark it read that should be a tap-able option when the book pops up.

Great concept…needs work

Great idea and something I’ve been looking for for a while however the execution isn’t quite there. Why not start by having the user input books they’ve read and enjoyed as well as books they’ve read and not enjoyed and use an algorithm such as knn to being making recommendations and allow to learn over time based on user input. Isn’t that how all the big guns make recommendations that work?

If there’s a way to do this already, I haven’t found it and I’m more than happy to edit this review if it’s there and I haven’t seen it.

Slow to load or won’t load at all

Saw this was a thing from a post in a group on Facebook. I saw there there were people saying it was glitchy. But I downloaded it anyway hoping that the glitches were maybe their phone. The loading is very slow, if anything loads at all. I have my phone open and loading for 15 minutes and nothing showed. I was unable to set up any preferences and wasn’t even totally sure I was signed up. This is an amazing idea and I’ll keep the app in hopes there is an update and everything smooths out for it.

Developer Response ,

Hi SilentNinja! That book club broke our app. LOL! It was amazing to have so many new users. We upgraded the servers and are good to go. Now come back and find your book date!
