Good options, lots of distortion with external DAC, frustrating interface

When I connect headphones to the MacBook headphone jack the app works as expected. However I use an external DAC/Amp using USB. In this setting I’m getting distortion when using the app and audio driver. I can adjust the volume and sound boost to reduce the distortion, but it seems like it’s still there. And no, I don’t have any other software intalled that’s interfering with the app. Finally, the interface is really frustrating. The designers decided to make the app function as a toolbar icon rather than a dock-based app. This is fine until you realize that you can’t make any changes to the EQ settings and tab back and forth with the music apps. As soon as you tab to another app the equalizer settings window dissappears and to get it back you have to do two additional steps.To the developers: thanks for the response. I still get some distortion with the boost off and iTunes volume at 50% using a Schiit audio Jutunheim. This only occurs when engaging the EQ setting. I think as long as I keep the EQ db low enough I don’t get distortion. However the 3d and other sound effects sound distorted to me. As for using a hot key to access the EQ: I think you just argued my point for me. Having to invoke a hot key just to get back to the EQ every time I make any changes to the iTunes volume or scrub back in the song to hear the difference with an alternative EQ setting is extremely awkward and frustrating. Please consider making a free floating EQ window.

Hi, We have tried with various USB Output devices and it works fine. But, we however do not recommend using external DAC/Amp with Boom audio boost because they replicate some part of Boom’s functionality and the resultant audio may get distorted. To tab back and forth in EQ settings, we suggest you to make use of Boom shortcut option CMD+Option+O Hotkey to bring the Boom window foreground. You can always change the shortcut key as per your convenience under Settings.

I’ve been working in software for the last 15 years. On two or three occasions, I have purchased an app, paid a decent amount of money for it, then immediately found the app to be utterIy useless. Such was the case with this app. I’d purchased this app about an hour ago. Having read a few of the reviews, I felt encouraged, so I went ahead and purchased it. It downloaded and opened fine. The developer was nice enough to provide a download link to a user manual in a PDF file format for users to familiarize themselves with the software. It was vague at best. The software also has very impressive graphics, I will say that. The interface was not intuitive, nor functional. At the end of the day, that’s all that I want. Life is too short to read lengthy, complex manuals. You want to use it on the fly, right after downloading it. I’m using it on a new Mac Pro running with OS Sierra and all the latest updates. This is one of those apps that just kind of sits there, and you have no idea what good it actually does. The software's demo will play this (initially) flat-sounding audio file, then as the music progresses in the demo, more volume, bass, treble, and instruments are added to give the illusion of better sound. There is little hint of how this software actually works. I found it to be one more impressive graphics software with nothing behind it as far as function and easy interface. I immediately contacted iTunes Support and asked for a refund. They were very understanding and issued it. This software will give you this grand illusion that you’re going to be improving the sound on your speakers or headphones, but it kind of just sits there and does nothing. Waste of time and money. The reviews were false, apparently.

This app would just randomly select the audio output and it would at times glitch to a point where the app doesn't provide any audio to your selected output. The 3D Surround doesn't really provide that surround feel, it doesn't provide that audio channel separation that an actual cinema audio system provides. Lately this app has been performeing really unusual, as it would make the audio of what I'm watching or listening in the background stutter. Which I don't understand why. I hope they would fix that issue in either newer current build updates or upgraded builds.

Words are superfluous, the increase in sound quality is immediately noticeable. They have somehow managed to increase the sound volume without causing any noticeable distortion. Each of the 3D settings is great, so pick whichever one suits whatever your are listening too. It'll make the sound more "life-like." The Eq feature is very useful, as well. Download the trial on their site if you are skeptical. You won't regret this one time $20 expenditure. Also, I don't have an affiliation with the company. I just appreciate great sound quality.

Each of the 3D settings is great, so pick whichever one suits whatever your are listening too. It'll make the sound more "life-like." The Eq feature is very useful, as well. Download the trial on their site if you are skeptical. You won't regret this one time $20 expenditure. Also, I don't have an affiliation with the company. I just appreciate great sound quality.
