Latest version is a huge step back

The latest version takes away the main appeal of this software: being able to securely have your cloud files with you. Now they are only available in the Files app without any sort of protection and you cannot opt out.

Having this as an option would be great, especially if I could choose to only have some folders or drives available in Files. Having it mandatory makes this app useless to me.

I’ve had a subscription to BoxCryptor for multiple years but will be canceling it as a result of this change.

We are very sorry you are not satisfied with our new iOS-App. However, there seems to be a misunderstanding concerning the security of your data and our encryption. Please let us resolve this: Although we have decided to discontinue our own file browser on iOS and integrate solely into the Files app, all your data remains encrypted at the same, high level it is and always was supposed to be. Due to technical restrictions, it is only the additional app protection (e.g., extra PIN for accessing your data) which is now missing.
As it was an important aspect of the app for many, we understand its removal may have raised concerns. Still, we must emphasize that device protection is not Boxcryptor’s purpose as our main functionality will remain in protecting your data during transfer to and storage in the cloud.
The cloud providers showing in the Files app’s Boxcryptor location can be manually added or removed in the Boxcryptor app which still contains the settings controls. You can look up more here: https://www.boxcryptor.com/en/help/manage-cloud-providers-and-locations/ios/#add-provider

Truly an Indespensible tool

Time to come clean about Apple and IOS. Apple as no wish to create useful tools. Office 365 from Microsoft allows me to create, read and store file interchangeably among devices including windows. Apple has steadfastly refused to crea a mechanism to store a file of this kind to a USB compatible drive of which there are many. Picture files or music perhaps, but not .ppt, docs, or excel. To do this you need to use the cloud and worry over security. Using BOXCRYPTOR I can save a copy of an iPad created document directly to a BOXCRYPTOR directory. No sending or sharing. Or multiple moves, just straight store fully encrypted file created on the iPad locally and open it on my home PC in complete security. All this no thanks to Apple. I have USB drives for saving pics/screen shots, but not any app file from ms office. BOXCRYPTOR is reliable and I’d be using it for years, these reviews that call it junk, are from those who are ignorant.

I have had enough….

Every update to this app makes it progressively worse. 3.22 is the latest. Now, I can’t even download/view my Boxcryptor files from OneDrive on my iPad or iPhone! I even uninstalled/reinstalled the app. Yes, both devices are updated to the latest iOS . When I try to download and view a file, the circle of death just sits and spins. All of the files in my other apps will download just fine so it is not an issue with my devices.
Version 3.21 of this app at least worked although as soon as I would lock the app, Boxcryptor auto clears the download cache so now the files are not available offline. Auto clearing the cache is ridiculous. I don’t always have a data connection but I still need access to these files. If the app is locked, the files are secured, so why clear the cache?
You folks had a great product and now you have essentially made it useless. I am cancelling my plan and am in the process of moving to another encrypted storage provider.
