Description

Braapp turns your phone into a full-duplex communication system. It was designed especially for motorcycle riders, for the situations when your hands are occupied. Application has the additional PTT mode support.

Application does not consume 4G traffic or cellular network, it works over wifi connection between the devices. You don’t need to setup connection manually, application does everything automatically. When you are out of range and loose a connection, application reconnects automatically, there is no need to get out your device and reconnect.

Braapp supports both walkie-talkie mode and full-duplex mode. When you plug in your headphones, Braapp automatically switches to the full-duplex communication mode.
Application has built-in voice activity detection. It helps to reduce bandwidth and battery usage as well as reduce the noise. Starting from version 1.3 the application has four VAD modes. From voice quality to the aggressive filtering.

Good idea, doesn’t work

Great idea, the app is laid out nice. Just does t have enough range. It drops the connection at 15-20 ft. Even when we tried to ride close at speeds around 30-40, would not stay connected. Would love to find out if I can get my $1 back ~

Developer Response ,

App was originally designed for the communication with a pillion, and even so you can use it to communicate with other rides, you just need to extend it's range by using the external mobile WIFI hot-spot. When devices are it the same WIFI network they will use it to transfer voice.

No luck with iPhone XS Max to iPhone X

This app exhibits some very odd behaviors. Using “Tap to Talk” I can talk to my wife’s iPhone X, but she cannot talk from her iPhone X to my iPhone XS Max. Using voice detection I can hear her voice with a long buffering delay, but she cannot hear me at all. Again; using “Tap to Talk” my wife can hear me loud and clear, but I cannot hear her at all. Nothing we have tried has worked to successfully connect these two iPhones using voice detection and “Tap To Talk” only works in one direction. We have both given the app permission to access out microphones and we are not using Bluetooth headsets. We are both using our stock iPhone wired “iPhone earbuds”.
So far this app is unusable for us. Glad it was only $.99 US. ...we had high hopes, but this is very disappointing.

Developer Response ,

Hello! First of all, thank you for your review, it is very helpful and important for me to make the app better! Can you please clarify how do you use the app? There are only two modes: PTT and Full-duplex. You can switch to full-duplex by plugging in your headphone. You can't switch on and off VAD, it is always on. When your headphones are plugged in, you are automatically in full-duplex mode and you don't need push to talk, just tap once and talk as long as you want. BTW please check the headphones volume on both devices. If after that you still experience difficulties, please contact me directly per e-mail. (You can find it at support page) I will be happy to support you and make the app work as expected! Sorry for inconvenience. Oleg.

Works great on Wi-Fi

I’ve only used it to do some communication between iPhones and a Mac Mini M1, all on a strong Wi-Fi connection. And it works great and easily!
