Handy Braille Translation ⠓⠯⠽ ⠃⠗⠇ ⠞⠗⠁⠝⠎⠇⠠⠝

I work in signage and while I, personally, do not set Grade 2 Braille, the fabricators I work with do. This app not only helps me check their translations, but also get a general idea of what the Grade 2 Braille translations look like to get approximateline line lengths for my sign layouts.

The app is simple to use and zippy, translating on-the-fly as you type. You can get going in seconds after downloading it.

Export options are robust allowing for png, vector svg, or plain text of the braille translation. If you need editable text, you can easily copy and paste the braille into most apps (see title above). If you need it in Adobe Illustrator I have found the setting to match the svg output to be:

Apple Braille (built into every Mac)
Font Size: 30 pt
Kerning: 0 (NOT Optical)
Tracking: -15 (not entirely sure why, but sets too wide without it)
Leading: 30 (actually closer to 29, but way easier to remember at 30)

Again, this is only to get approximate size and location, but I have found it invaluable in my day to day design needs. Hope this helps!

Handy and Easy to Use!

I use Braille and this app is great for small jobs. I converted a Quick Reference Guide to use on my Braille notetaker by pasting the text and it just worked. Thanks for this.

Can't copy & Paste translation

Since the new conversion to Catalina my Louis Braille widget program no longer works so I tried this one. It translates it but you can't copy the translation and paste it on illustrator unless you export it. That would take to long to do what I do. I need to work faster than that. So still looking for a good Braille translation program.
