Meet Brella, a beautiful and thoughtful weather app that takes the "um" out of the forecast and delivers your personalized weather forecast daily!
Siri & Alexa Support
Brella is compatible with the most advanced voice assistants in town, and bringing some Personality! You can record a custom phrase to get your personalized forecast from Siri, as well as suggested shortcuts throughout iOS. For Alexa, just say "Alexa, ask Brella Weather..." for your personalized forecast, what the weather will be like, or just what to wear. Brella has custom Personality phrases for Alexa and Siri too, part of the fun is hearing them out loud!
Beautiful, Thoughtful Design
Brella streamlines the crowded weather forecast down to its most essential elements. Bold, vibrant colors indicate the temperature at a glance, while temperature and conditions are presented with crisp, bold text. The hourly forecast provides a clean, yet detailed look at the day’s weather, while the daily forecast makes comparing temperature ranges nearly instantaneous.
While we were teaching Brella how to translate your wardrobe into a readable forecast, we might have let this super-powered AI spend a little too much time online. From pop culture and movie references to delightful messages and cheesy compliments, Brella adds that personal touch in a personalized daily forecast that will make you smile, cringe, or sminge. Look for seasonal updates!
Always checking the weather in the morning to see what to wear? Have the answer right on your lock screen when you wake up with Brella’s personalized forecast. You can choose exactly the type of information you want in your notification, from bare-bones essential weather to a detailed forecast summary. In addition, you can check out what wild wisdom Brella has to offer at any time through the Today Widget in Notification Center, or using your voice with Alexa. Note: In-app purchase required for some features.
Powered by the Best
Brella uses the best available sources to find and deliver the weather anywhere, even Waldo’s hideout. Our backend server is powered by Vapor, a fantastic Swift web framework, and our database is run using the rock-solid Google Firebase. We use data from hyperlocal powerhouse Dark Sky and Google Place's hundreds of millions of locations. Our in-app analytics system is powered by Fabric + Crashlytics to understand our audience and continually improve the app.
Our Work Is Never Over
We’re hard at work continuing to bring Brella everywhere. Let us know if you have any suggestions or feature requests!
This is one of those "various bug fixes and improvements" updates, but we'd at least like to tell you what we fixed!
- Fixed an issue where personalized forecasts with rain would be formatted incorrectly
- Improved Today widget for dark appearances
- Fixed issue where the email composer view didn't display correctly
- Fixed an issue where the settings background would appear transparent briefly
- Fixed an issue where personalized forecasts would suggest to wear and bring the same item
- Updated tint color for checkmarks in settings
However, this update also includes some other under the hood bug fixes a bit too technical (boring) for our update notes. But they're good ones, we promise!
Ratings and Reviews
Amazing Design and Color!
As soon as I opened this app, I knew that I would love it. It’s so simple, but the colors are so bright and eye catching. The design is simplistic and it makes the weather easy to follow. The interface is colorful and sleek, making this my go to weather app. The notifications that this app sends makes choosing what to wear in the morning so much easier. You can select your desired range of temperature for each article of clothing, and when you wake up in the morning, the app tells you what you can wear! Amazing and simple, my favorite weather app I’ve seen so far.

Thank you! We really appreciate hearing from users what they like about the app :)
Lots of fails
My personal forecast for today reads as follows (all typos are Brella’s, not mine):
Good afternoon, [my name]!
You might want to bringing an umbrellaAs they say, you’re keen as a peach! Ponder fruity phrases wearing yourYou should wear your jeans and t-shirt, plus take your sweatshirt. The forecast is rain throughout the day.
And then when I go into the menu and tap “Send feedback”, a grey bar appears near the top of my screen and the rest of the screen dims a little, and that’s the sum total of the result of my tapping “Send feedback”.
I’m thinking maybe this app can’t handle the iPhone XS Max, and/or said phone being set to increase font size somewhat. There’s definitely *something* in my setup that it can’t handle...
Also, once you choose a cutesy-ness level during initial setup, you’re stuck with it: there’s no way to change it in the settings.
Aaand I keep finding *more* things wrong. Through deleting and reinstalling the app several times so I could change that setting that’s only available during the initial setup, I have discovered that it’s not changeable even then: choosing the most straightforward and non-cutesy setting has no effect. Your forecasts will still be full of meaningless fluff phrases (the developers call this “personality”).
Oh...and I just noticed Brella uses Dark Sky for its weather, which in my experience is not as accurate as Accuweather. I think this is just not a weather app for me.

Hey, thank you for the feedback! We fixed the sentence bug and Send Feedback bug in our latest update.
You can change all of your settings at any times within the settings menu of the app, such as for what type of daily notification (simple, regular, detailed) you receive in the morning.
Brella is a great app!
Brella has been a great tool for quickly checking the weather and deciding what to wear. Its customized forecasts are very helpful and the little jokes make checking the weather fun (although it would be nice if we could disable them). In addition, the daily notifications are very convenient and help speed up my morning routine. One feature I'd love to see would be better support for the Siri shortcuts app. For example, it would be nice if there was an action that would output the forecast as text so it can be used in the shortcut.
