Limited contents, poor programming

Got this and the dinosaurs one for my 4 y/o. She loves the memory cards section, but the puzzles part is highly impractical (cannot move the pieces out of the way to start assembling the picture, pieces can get stuck behind the picture as it is being assembles, ...) for a 4 y/o, and as a programmer myself I cannot fathom what the guy who programmed it had in mind other than wanting to expedite a chore.

For a 4 y/o, this app definitely has more contents than the dino, which has a really limited number of pictures. I am sure that an older kid who can read would make better use of the narratives.

Considering this is also supposedly targeted at kids, I find outrageous not to provide some locking mechanism for the 'shop' section (other companies selling kid apps out there have made the effort to provide something like that when they offered in app purchases, which has gone a long way in my decision to acquire them for my daughter).

Altogether a very disappointing purchase, especially considering britannica is associating its name with the series, which I do not recommend for young kids. I cannot give it a single star as the contents, even if limited, remains high quality.

PS: Considering these apps seem to share a common framework, fixing the puzzles section will be done once and benefit the entire series. I will keep an eye for updates.

This encyclopedia is too basic; for $4.99, I would expect more information and less games. Another problem is that it lacks a search option. It would be useful if appropriate age or class ranges were included with the app description. In my opinion, this app is only useful for students up to fourth grade. There was very little information in here of use to my middle schooler. I feel like I wasted $5.

Ancient Egypt

We bought Ancient Egypt and Encyclopedia Britannica's Volcanoes. The kids love playing the games that come with both ... and the great thing is that they're learning a lot at the same time. Good stuff!
