Hoodoos!! Audio stories are great

I actually ditched a different app (which I had paid for) in favor of this one. The audio commentary in this is excellent, and easily worth the money. You learn about how Bryce’s crazy hoodoos formed BUT you also learn about the different stories about them over time. If this is going to be a once-in-lifetime trip for you, choose this app for the right content. Don’t go for the standard stories which are lifted straight from the signboards.

I feel duped

Updated:
After a very responsive exchange with the developer, they made it seem like some improvements would be on the way. While I can’t recommend the version I used, I’m hoping to give them another shot in the future simply because
of their positive customer experience response.

Original Review:
I got greedy and went for this app over the GyPSy app which we’ve enjoyed immensely in the past but costs $2 more. We saw the good reviews and it felt like a slam dunk. We were wrong right off the bat. Glitchy, freezing, starts over from the first slide every time you restart the app (do you want to take a hike or see a viewpoint without the drain on your battery?). We heard the first slide about 12 times and maybe 2 other slides, one of which was a home video of a lookout with audio of just heavy breathing. Driver can’t see these visuals... why include them? It’s not good content from what we did see, but even if it was, it wouldn’t play for us anyway. I’m thinking the good reviews are staged. Instead of saving $2, we wasted $3. Lesson learned...

Developer Response ,

I believe we replied to your emailed feedback form. The freezing and glitches are due to poor signal in the park — using Offline Mode fixes nearly everything described here. Our users typically enjoy the images since they help identify difficult-to-see formations within Bryce. We don’t need to stage any reviews. Nevertheless, we are always happy to compensate users who didn’t have an excellent tour experience!

Like a musical orchestra in the phone

What a beautiful place! And a beautiful tour guide to explain it. Narration is excellent. The app guide’s voice is quite enthusiastic. GPS based play was very good. All I did was to walk in the circles on the guided path. It played on its own. Bryce is the best park here. Pls download the app in advance. Cellular signal is choppy.
