Ratings and Reviews
The other reviewers don't give this app the justice it deserves. The audio quality isn't 5 star, but the content is excellent. I find Dr. Hanson's voice soothing and healing. Coming from someone that is very motivated to overcome a serious bout of depression, anxiety, panic & bereavement struggles, this app presented itself at a time I really needed it. I like to listen to it while falling asleep. It has helped me tremendously.
Doesn't take advantage of iPhone/iPad graphics
The sentiments voiced in this app can be helpful, but if you subscribe to Rick's JOTs, you get them in email anyway. This is essentially a text only (and very wordy) application that takes no advantage whatever of the graphics capabilities of the iPhone/iPad. The most graphical thing about it is the icon of the Buddha you use to enter the application. After that, it's just strings of text and menus of the kind you might see on a PC. Especially for $4.99, I would expect a better iPhone app. Contrast for example the Abraham card decks on the iPhone, which in my opinion offer an example of motivational sayings for the iPhone done in a way that has nice graphics and takes advantage of the iPhone touch screen.
Goods with room for improvement...
I own the book that this app is based on and appreciate having all exercises at hand so easily. Guided audio versions of at least some of the exercises would be a great next step in the development of this app!
