What’s New

Version 4.17.1

Thanks for using Calm! This update contains multiple bug fixes and performance improvements.

Be sure to listen to our newest Sleep Stories including "The Time Machine" narrated by English actress Anna Acton. Join Nick Offerman, known for his role as Ron Swanson in the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation, in "The Big Bad Wolf Learns Anger Management." And don't forget to listen to world-renowned actor Matthew McConaughey's dreamy story about the mysteries of the universe in "Wonder."

Check out our newest meditation program by Jeff Warren, known for his dynamic and accessible style of teaching, titled "How to Meditate." It's a simple 30-day program for everyone.

We recently launched Calm in Korean. You can switch between English, German, Spanish, French, and Korean meditations and Sleep Stories by going to the Change Language option in Settings.

As always, you can expect an original Daily Calm every day and new Sleep Stories every week.

While you’re waiting for the update to install, try this simple practice: Relax your body and get comfortable, then turn your attention to the breath. Keeping the rhythm of your breathing natural, just observe your breath as it flows in and out. Notice how it moves in and out of the body with curiosity. Breathe each breath as though for the very first time.

Take a deep breath. That phrase greets you whenever you open Calm. It’s both a call to action and a defining feature of the app’s approach to meditation: you’re going to get through this, and all you need to start is a moment. In the increasingly crowded field of apps for meditation and mindfulness, Calm stands out for its ease of use and attention to (soothing) detail.

Love - and a request

Hi! Your app is fantastic. I’ve used different meditation apps over the years. Calm addresses all of the issues I had with previous apps and puts everything (sounds, music, reading, and guidance) in one place, which is amazing — thank you! What would be great to add to the library of guided meditations is a version of the 7-days of Calming Anxiety specifically for people who are homebound. My elderly grandmother was very social, very active her entire life, and is now homebound. She needs to lower her anxiety, but I can’t share this program with her because phrases like “there’s nothing you need to do, nowhere you need to be, nothing to fix…” etc. are actually what is depressing her. It’s a more difficult problem to solve, I know, but if there’s a way to write a 7-day program for people who don’t need to slow down — slowing down is their problem — and also ensure that the reading is engaging, not too soothing; otherwise she’ll fall asleep, which she does because she’s depressed. This would help more than elderly people; many people struggling with recovery from operations and chronic illnesses have similar issues of immobility. I just don’t want to give her something labeled “for the elderly” or that references a life situation, because her’s isn’t going to change; it’s not temporary. I’d love for it to be called something like “7 Days of Calming Anxiety at Times of Immobility” or “Meditating When You Can’t Move.” Thank you for considering this!

I love Calm

I love Calm. I look forward to it every day and night. I do the daily Calm every morning. And I love the deep sleep body scans and sleep stories for night. I usually listen to the recommend sleep story for that day, to remove any more decisions from my life, and they are usually ones I haven’t heard before. Most of the times, they put me to sleep, but sometimes I want to listen to them until the end, because some of them are so beautiful and interesting. Then I just listen to another one that eventually puts me to sleep, but it usually takes just one..I love the full body scans for sleep too in Meditations I think. And I love the music. I don’t fall asleep though to the music, probably because I am a composer, and I unintentionally try to figure it out, but I just enjoy it for it’s beauty and calming effect. For sleep, I also like to add on the sounds of Raining on leaves to extend past the end of whatever I’m listening to, because sudden silence sometimes wakes me up again. That is in More/scenes. I haven’t done a masterclass yet. I have been doing Calm every day for 2 years. I think it has gradually helped my insomnia and anxiety, sometimes to the point where get a little bored in the day, because I don’t have as many thoughts and worries rolling around in my head as I used to.. I have tried other anxiety/sleep apps, but have decided Calm is the best.
