Best Calm Now app

As a therapist one can use psychoeducation and apps such as Calm Now to help clients feel better. This Calm Now tool is invaluable, easy to use and able to be accessed anywhere. The vagus nerve, the longest cranial nerve, plays a crucial role in the parasympathetic nervous system, which controls the body’s rest-and-digest functions. It extends from the brainstem through the neck and thorax down to the abdomen, influencing various organs such as the heart, lungs, and digestive tract.

The vagus nerve is known for its positive effects on health. Stimulating this nerve can reduce stress and inflammation, lower heart rate, and promote relaxation. It also aids in digestion by stimulating the production of digestive enzymes and supporting gut motility. Additionally, the vagus nerve is linked to improved mental health, as its activation is associated with a decrease in anxiety and depression. This is due to its role in enhancing the production of neurotransmitters like serotonin and regulating the body's stress response.

Overall, the vagus nerve is vital for maintaining physical and mental well-being, making it a key focus in therapies aimed at improving health through techniques like deep breathing, meditation, and certain forms of electrical stimulation.

The interface is clean and easy to navigate, and the variety of calming exercises, guided meditations, and soothing soundscapes are top-notch. I love how the app allows you to customize your experience based on your mood and needs, whether you're looking to focus, relax, or sleep better. It’s helped me create a calming routine throughout the day, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an easy and effective way to bring more peace into their life.

Good for grounding

My favorite part about this app is the guided breathing exercises. It allows me to pick how long I want to do it and it tells me what to do. There’s also a vagus stimulator to activate my parasympathetic nervous system. It’s quick stress relief and I can pick the intensity level. I also like how simple the app is, overall would recommend.
