Learning languages with music is the best hack!

I’ve been using Canary for about a month and, for a brand new language learning app, I’m impressed. I’m able to listen to French in TV shows and pick up on words and phrases. It is so much more fun and I find myself looking forward to using it. It isn’t a task to check off my list, I have fun with the music. Are there some bugs they’re working out? Sure. But I’d rather learn this way through music than anything else.

I have to say Canary: Learn with Music is a fun and interactive way to learn a new language or review your vocab/lexic for those of us who are bilingual or polyglots. Again, cannot stress enough that the track lists are 👨🏻‍🍳💋🤌🏼🤌🏼 Try for yourself! I thought, what a simple idea! Learning from subtitles on movies or videos is just not the same!

I love the concept of using music to learn languages, but the interface needs tweaking. Currently, the text of the lyrics barely fits into the space allotted to it and there’s a good chance of not being able to see the translation at all. It’s not necessary to keep the artist and song title visible through the whole song: have that fade out and shrink the lyrics text size. Also- full speed is fast for a beginner but 75% speed is painfully slow. Please add a way to refine the speed at a more granular level. Thanks!
