From time to time, the Canary auto-mode switching feature may briefly access your GPS in order to have high confidence in your location. Battery life is very important to us and we do many things to ensure we use it sparingly. Please be aware that continued use of GPS services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Good concept, actual function needs improvement
As a whole, this app would be great if it worked the way they wanted it to. The camera is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting even thought the WiFi connection is fine. It often won’t register that we’re home and will alert us over and over again that “there’s a person at home” even though we’re there. Going into the app and adjusting the settings does nothing to help this. The app glitches often, and usually runs very slowly. When watching a video it recorded, there will often times be gaps in the video feed. Example: we use this to watch our pets when we’re not home and they’ll often set off the camera to start recording. But they’ll be walking across the living room, then the video will glitch and our pet will magically appear on the other side of the room. The two-way talk is only available if you purchase a premium membership (but to be honest, with the quality of the camera it’s really not worth it). The two-way talk is also very glitchy and sometimes comes across garbled and hard to understand.
Overall, it’s not entirely bad. It just needs a lot of improvement.
*Update: Fixed! New update mess everything up.
*Update: If you too had problems after the new update like the ones I describe below I recommend you to completely restart your device, unplugged it for a minute, plug it back in, then set up the connection to your WiFi again and that should do it.
There was a new update I notice because now the picture of whoever is speaking shows on the microphone now. My phone automatically updated my apps so I don’t know when this happen but I wish it hasn't because I’m completely unable to watch live through the camera, it completely freezes when I choose live, I’ve done everything even restart my phone and I even left my phone for ten minutes to see if it would eventually let me watch live and it never did, it just shows that is loading but it never does! And when I try to watch a preview of my alerts on my lock screen it never loads either. I’m very disappointed and I’m thinking about taking the camera back because this makes it completely useless, the camera has good quality video but it’s worthless, completely useless if the app doesn’t work.

The app and interface work fine. The indoor cameras are decent, picture quality could be better and other systems have a few more options than these do but I haven’t noticed a serious need for them.
The outside camera is junk. I haven’t had this thing a year yet and it’s already quirky. The battery doesn’t hold a charge, it won’t recharge. It pops on and off signal all the time. I have a wifi booster 20 feet away from the camera in a window and I’ve moved it as close as I possibly can but it still pops on and off WiFi. The outdoor camera does not have night mode like the inside cameras do. So what’s the point? No one trapes around outside of your house in broad daylight. The sensor on it is iffy. I have it set to the most sensitive and you still have to be 10 feet away for it to trigger. So it’s not very reliable unless you have the video up on your phone constantly and then all you are doing is draining that battery that is junk.
Let me know when you put more into the outdoor camera and make it better. Otherwise I’ll figure out how to set up and indoor camera facing outside, so it can have window glare.
