From time to time, the Canary auto-mode switching feature may briefly access your GPS in order to have high confidence in your location. Battery life is very important to us and we do many things to ensure we use it sparingly. Please be aware that continued use of GPS services running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Moving camera position

Finally you guys listened to what I’ve been saying needed to happen which is giving customer the ability to be able to move cameras into different positions especially since so may or your problem solutions are to have the customers remove the camera and reinstall them and now when the new camera comes in the last position we can at least move it to the first or third or any other position we want. So thanks for listening is if you can just get the cameras to actually start recording movements sooner instead of when a delivery person is walking away instead of catching them when they park in front of my house and start walking up my walkway. They need to wake up sooner. Thanks

Better Services available

I’ve used canary for about three years now and there are just consistent issues with the app. It will stop giving notifications. It will stop loading. It will log you out. It will erase any notification it had. Save yourself the trouble and choose another company. This one isn’t worth the headache.
Since the devs responded I’ll say I’ve already reached out to them about the app and the camera issues and they usually just tell me to restart and reinstall. They’ve provided no useful information for it to stop. Look at the critical reviews and you’ll see. The app will stop sending notifications, it takes 5+ minutes to get an alert after it happens regardless of which plan you have, they try and entice you by saying you can get a $100 gift card but not giving you a way to bypass that without sending an email, the app will wipe your videos free or not. The camera will randomly stop working. All canary has is buy a new one, reset the camera by unplugging it, or reinstalling the app. They don’t care to fix the issues. I’d never pay for an unreliable service.

Could be improved

Using this to monitor my elderly mother. One buys these cameras to monitor for detail, but there appears to be some algorithms in the app that remove most of the feed one wants. If your loved one falls, you get a ‘continuous’ feed with her in bed and then on the ground, with the time leading to the fall absent. If there is an interaction needing to be monitored with an aide, that may not show up. As others have mentioned, the app will freeze with no way to reset except to delete it and reinstall. I’ve done that 2-3 times in just the last month. Having a camera to monitor loved ones is an essential in my opinion, but one will not see the critical details one needs quite often with this camera. I think this camera’s app is designed for an area with almost no activity, and when activity occurs, it will complete in a minute or so. It happened again. Needed to hear a conversation with the aide; Canary skipped right over it.
