Inspirational people at ECPI
Going through school is tough, especially after 20 years, I would like to acknowledge the people that have help me and touched my heart and motivated me even though I’m just halfway through, first and foremost a very knowledgeable and kind academic advisor Mr. SCOTT GIBSON, secondly the reason why I decided to take classes again at ECPI after 20 years is because of the influence of a student advisor, SHAWN COLEMAN , I was kind of skeptical on returning after 20 years but with his positive influence it really help me,and there are professors that I had the opportunity to embrace their excellent teaching, thank you to Mr. BELTON WILLIAMS, who is an online professor, his teaching is excellent ,and great thanks to a Mr. JOE BLOW Who really teaches with firm caring, mr. BLOW wants students to know what they’re doing and PASS, he doesn’t just want to ,as we say , just kick the can down the block to the next professor. So if you encounter any one of these people while you attend ECPI, you are BLESSED!, overall the school has an excellent Academic program, clubs you can enter to improve your GPA, and in general great help is there to assist you along the way, thank you ECPI!!!
I have been using Canvas for about a year now and it's been very helpful! Although the initial switch from Google Classroom to Canvas in my school district was hard, I have now gotten used to the apps interface and how it works. I like how organized everything is in the app, I can see all my classes laid out when I open it. If I click on one of my classes, I can easily open modules to find my assignments. I can also keep track of my assignments with the todos tab and inbox which shows messages from my teachers. Turning items in is also an easy process (depending on which format). You can turn in with audio, website URL, media recording, file upload, or text submission (depending on what the teacher chooses as submission process). Another great aspect is that all of your assignments are sorted by unit in the modules making it very easy to find your needed assignments. Overall Canvas is a good app, I only gave it 4 stars because on several occasions my teachers have made the app more difficult by allowing only a certain type of submission/ locking material by mistake, etc. I do have one recommendation, and that is when you film an in app video submission, there should be a pause button, I have experienced times when I was not able to pause and I wanted to.
I know I hate reading super long and unnecessary reviews so I’ll try to keep it straight to the point. This app’s pretty great, you can check your grades super easily, lots of tabs to organize things really easily, simple user interface, and best of all, a customizable dashboard! Whats there not to love? So why did I take of one star? Because there’s no connections! I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve had to switch out apps and come back to canvas being restarted. So I have two proposals. 1. Add a recent tab. This would be so useful through switching between modules. I think it would look similar to the notifications list, with the class at the top, the assignments/module in the middle, and instead of the publication time at the bottom, the last time you accessed that specific assignment for each box. 2. Add connections! If you don’t know, some apps allow you to connect apps to a another app. (Some examples of these kind of apps are discord, snapchat, house party, etc.) I feel like you should be able to connect google apps like google docs, google meets, socratic, etc. and maybe also browsers like safari, chrome, ecosia, etc. If canvas adds one of these I’d be happy to change my review to 5 stars!
