Description

The official CapMetro App offers public transportation riders in Austin and surrounding areas trip-planning tools, fare purchasing, real-time departure information, service alerts, schedules and maps and other great features that make riding easy. Our latest update includes a virtual card called AMP that provides riders the savings of a daily or monthly pass without paying the full cost up-front.

Not sure how to get there? Whether you're at home or on transit, just pull up the app to access the Trip Planner and easily buy passes.

This app requires iOS 11 or higher. We recommend using iOS 12 to take advantage of all the app features.

App Features:
- Buy tickets for Bus and Rail services. Eligible customers can also use CapMetro Access and Reduced Fares*.
- The Trip Planner feature plans a customized itinerary based on your starting and ending locations. It also displays real-time information for select CapMetro services. Save your favorite trips for easier planning.
- Create, manage and use your AMP card to enjoy daily and monthly fare capping on Bus & Rail.
- Check schedules for all routes in the system.
- View Route Maps by service and route number.
- Use the Next Departure feature to find the next bus near your location.
- Report a safety concern

Not very intuitive, but it works

First, I tried adding a “physical card” but it didn’t work. I assumed that it was the same as a debit or credit card, did I misunderstand? A help button would be welcome here.

Anyway, I gave up and created a virtual card instead, then I simply added a pass to my virtual card and things worked as they should have. I wish that the interface was a little more intuitive but it works, so we’re fine.
I appreciated the fact that Apple Pay was proposed as a payment option, making it easy to select the right card and pay within seconds. No one wants to take their banking card out at the bus stop.
Also, fare capping is a very welcome feature. Thanks, CapMetro for making this change!

Can’t load multiple passes for my family

I appreciate the intent of this new app, but it’s not as intuitive as the last one and hard to use. After many attempts, I’m unable to load multiple passes for my family. The last app allowed me the ability to load and manage multiple passes at a time.

Unintuitive and broken

Tried adding multiple credit cards via “physical card” option, which didn’t work. I then created a virtual card with no balance on it. I then tried to purchase a single ticket, which was confusing since there are local and commuter sections, so its not clear at all which one applies. I then purchased a single ticket but it would never let me activate the ticket (it was showing under tickets with an hourglass icon). The app then logged me out and now I’m unable to log in anymore (via Apple login). It just shows “You are signed out” right after I log in, and I tried multiple times. The “Store” tab keeps showing “An error has occurred” and “The requested application was not found.” There is now a pending charge on my credit card for the ticket with the ticket nowhere to be found.
