Genuinely fun plus more!

I enjoy this game thoroughly but the real story is sharing this game with my mom. She’s an avid solitaire/puzzle game casual player. Doesn’t consider herself a “gamer” by any stretch of the imagination. I usually refrain from suggesting games like this to her because she doesn’t like complexity in games. For her, it’s more about relaxing and taking things at your own pace without too much added flair. I felt like this game has that next level of complexity, but does a really great job of taking the player to that level with thorough explanation. Most tutorials she ends up asking me about stuff despite the tutorial technically covering it. This is because sometimes they’re designed to talk to a gamer. She’s not a gamer. She doesn’t understand nuisances or “in the know” terminology that is sometimes used to build a tutorial. This game does a great job of explaining everything that ANYONE can understand. Not once did she ask for help, and ended up playing for a couple of hours on the first go. She’s now hooked on the game, and bought the remove ads IAP out of want to support the game rather than remove something annoying. This has helped take her to that next step and open up a lot of games for her to express interest in. Games she would’ve found too intimidating the first time around. I highly suggest this as a game to suggest to a more casual solitaire/puzzle game fan. It may be the gateway!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. It has made my day.
I agree, the game isn't casual, but I really hoped that we could take a casual player and lead them to a more complex card game without them even noticing. I'm so glad that it has worked for your mom.

Fun Game

I wish there was more to it. Great balance of ads (with the option to pay a reasonable amount to remove them.) Love the single player focus. Developers, please fix the dove card - it doesn’t work as described, meaning it literally just wastes 1 energy.

Edit: ok you addressed the dove card issue by changing the description on the card… is it supposed to be an extremely annoying card? Because I can’t figure out how it is useful at all. A close 2nd would be that traveling lady, but at least she can be used to remove cards. The gingerbread is pretty annoying too, but the dove is absolutely useless.

Also please give us a way to replay the campaign. Once that has been completed and all cards unlocked, draft and random modes become pretty boring… especially since there’s no way to customize a draft run. Still an excellent game though!

Hi. Thanks for the review.
The wording on the Dove is fixed in 2.1.2 but bad news, it still costs one Energy to move a card while the dove is open. It's turned out to be too powerful otherwise. I think that the card remains problematic and have some things in mind to try in later updates, but it's not as bad as some people think. First of all it effectively destroys itself in one turn, and second, rearranging the cards can bring benifits that also might eliminate energy "waste".
edit: you can tap on the chapter badge in the capmaign lobby to select any level and thus replay the campaign.
Dove wasn't designed to be annoying it just turned out this way. I think it has an interesting effect but, alas, it doens't work that well. Still, it's not as bad of a card. An Gingerbread man is one of my favourite cards in the entire game. First of all it just runs away (and does it faster than Blue 2 Pilgrim), and it also unlocks some interesting +1 math in some cases.

Great Game, No F2P Garbage

This is an excellent game. Great gameplay, solid visuals, and it doesn’t insult or manipulate its players with the sort of tricks common to free-to-play games.

I was more than happy to pay the $3 to remove ads, though honestly, there were only a few to begin with!

I see from the credits that this was made by a super-small team. They should be really proud of making something that outshines much of the exploitative trash turned out by larger game companies! Can’t wait to see what else they create.
