Care19 Diary is the official COVID-19 app for the states of Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Thank you for taking an active role in slowing the spread of coronavirus and making a difference in the health of your loved ones and your community.
Care19 is a digital diary that can help you remember where you have been over the last 14 days. If you test positive for COVID-19, it's important to remember where you have been as part of the contact tracing process.
Places you visit can be added manually and, if you enable location services, the app will attempt to auto-detect locations in the background. Our goal would be to automatically capture about half of the places you visit, thus reducing the amount of work needed to maintain the list.
If you test positive for COVID-19, with your permission, this anonymous and confidential data can be shared with the Department of Health to more efficiently identify others with whom you were in contact with. Identifying contacts is key to slowing the spread of coronavirus.
You will not be asked to provide any personally identifiable information within the app. Location data will only be shared with the Department of Health if you consent upon testing positive for COVID-19. This is done by sharing a code number displayed on the “About” section of the app.
Routine bug fixes.
Ratings and Reviews
I have been using the app for about a month now. The map keeps saving locations I haven’t been to or is just incorrect. Even my home address according to the map is showing a completely different location. One way to better manage places frequently visited it would be helpful if we could add an address in and save it. Because even some of the stores I visit don’t show up. Until the mapping issues can be addressed I strongly urge you to not share this with other states. Maybe you could get with google and be able to link the app mapping to Googles maps or locator. I’m a google traveler and my google maps is constantly clicking every place I go old and new. Something to think about since there maps are more accurate because of the GPS system they use. I’m willing to do whatever I can do to help even if it’s testing something out with the app please feel free to contact me. Thank you for your hard work in this.
Lost in ND
Sorry to say this, but this app is not working well in rural western ND. Not sure where the tracking is coming from but it needs fine tuning. It is off on location and definitely length of time in locations. Example: I was driving down a highway in NW ND today yet Care19 says I was stopped on the highway for 1 1/2 hrs!! No. Did not happen. And when I did stop for 1/2 hr at a location later on it didn’t record that at all. Great idea, just needs some work yet.
It is not working at all!
I down loaded the app the night it was first made available. I got one notice to give the app full access all the time. I did allow this. After several days and visiting our medical facility many times, it hasn’t recorded 1 event. After being an IT person for many years and programming some software, this app is not ready for prime time, let alone to offer this app to other states when it isn’t working correctly.
My wife has her app running, but it is recording lots of inaccurate data, After she visited several places for about an average of 20 minutes, it shows her there for 12 hours or more and at inaccurate locations.
Inaccurate data or having a none working app is NOT good for ND to use for making life decisions.
Developer - please pay attention to the reviews here and FIX this app! It would be a valuable asset for the fight against this virus.
