Castle Revenge is a great idea. Unlike other games where you create your village and defend and fight, Castle Revenge has a almost unbalanced fighting mechanic. This might seem bad at first, but it makes the game so you don't have to spend money on it (even in late game). I have an max level 6 base and am warlord 3. I know people with a max base of lv5 who are much higher then warlord 3 these people focus on battling and not building. The current number 1 player has lv 5 and 6 buildings and the number 2 player has lv 8 and 9 buildings. This shows that the people who don't like defending don't have to. I try to stay blanched and upgrade things before I upgrade my castle fully, but at heart it's not to be the best but it's to have the most fun so do what you like and enjoy the game (This wasn't much of a review but you should buy the game it's free anyways)
Buyer beware. Game abandoned and hacked!
I'm at Throne Hall 10 so I've been playing this game for a while. The last update was in July and the game has been abandoned by the developers since then. It's also been hacked by certain players (Mr Misai, for one) where they can continue to attack you even after they've already defeated you.
It's also an endless money pit where the Devs nickel and dime you every step of the way. Play for 2 minutes, wait 30 minutes to reload unless you cough up cash. Want to explore new lands? Spend Mana to upgrade Explorer but then also spend Gold to reveal the Castles in these new lands. Talk about double dipping!
expect to spend around $75-$100 to progress or wait a week or two for each upgrade. That's if you're able to save enough currency (over days or weeks) without getting raided and losing it all to much more powerful enemies 8-10 levels above you.
You'll also find it's strange how your attacks often fail while your opponents, using the same strategy and defences, often win. To reiterate, the game has been hacked or is rigged. Probably both. Other reviewers have also pointed this out.
Slow start, strong finish
This game is a must and becomes very addictive after you get the hang of it. You start out with only one builder but are also given enough gems for you to get a second with plenty of extra. The gem/coin/mana ratio is nicely proportioned so a little goes a long way in this game. Each piece in your castle can be leveled and it's very easy to move pieces around to your own design. The bombs and catapult can also be leveled. You start out with an array of bomb types which in itself makes your start a little frustrating if you don't use the ones that take up the most inventory first. Once you get the hang of it, the game becomes really fun to play.
