Now optimized for iOS 11, the CATA app is the best way to plan your day around Penn State, State College, and the surrounding area. No more freezing outside or watching the bus pull away as you run after it!
See where buses are in real-time, get scheduled and estimated departure times by stop, and provide feedback on CATA's bus service.
Also check out detailed information for each bus, including a real-time count of the number of riders onboard.
Better loading of route traces, and we brought back your location on the map.

This app needs a redo ASAP
Very poorly put together. I almost always have problems with getting bus times and often get the message "There are no buses running at this time"...in the middle of the day! Now the app will only work for me on wifi. CATA you need to invest more time in this app. Too many students like myself rely on this!
This morning I missed a bus
This morning I missed a bus. Since the app was updated, it has become a regular situation. You saw on the app that the bus was delayed, and you could see no bus approaching or anywhere nearby, so you don't go to the bus stop and wait there. Then out of nowhere, a "ghost bus" shows up, right on time, while the app still shows it will be delayed for 15 minutes.
Bus delay has also been a regular situation. Sometimes late for 5 or 10 minutes, sometimes it just disappears. I live 3 miles from campus, and one time I had to walk home with my friend. At that time, the bus was delayed for over 1 and a half hours. The bus had not arrived at the bus stop I was supposed to take it by the time I arrived home!
This has been a dilemma. Should you wait on time and expect the bus not show up, or should you trust the app?
I rely on this app to know when to catch the buses.. and it's not going to work in only a couple months because it is incompatible with iOS 11.
The app gravely needs updated anyway. The interface looks extremely dated and it is far from being user-friendly.
It should at least have gps capabilities so it knows what bus stop you're near instead of having to zoom in on a map to find your stop. In addition, it should show what buses run from your stop instead of having to choose from a huge list of all the buses and then hunting stops on the map.
I've used many public transport apps in many cities and this is by far one of the worst.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
