Description

Back up media and files from the Photos and Files applications (that are stored locally on your mobile device) with ease to your Mac, to a network volume, or to storage attached to your iPhone/iPad.

Bring your iPhone or iPad files and photos into your CCC Desktop backup ecosystem. Back up files and photos directly from your mobile device to a backup disk attached to your Mac that’s managed by CCC. Just a few taps on your mobile device, then the desktop application handles volume management, encryption, verification, and backup versioning.

CCC Mobile can also back up files from your Photos Library and from the Files application (that are stored locally on your mobile device) to an external storage device attached to your iPhone/iPad, or to Network Attached Storage on your local Wi-Fi network.

Looking to offload some photos from your mobile device? CCC mobile can verify the files that were backed up, then offer an option to delete those files from the source to free up space.

What’s New

Version 1.2

- On launch, and when bringing the application back to the front, CCC Mobile will attempt to re-establish a connection to a CCC Diplomat if that was the last-configured destination.
- When a task configured to re-verify files is cancelled and the destination is a CCC Diplomat, CCC no longer records the event with a "failed" status.
- Fixed a few issues that were leading to crashes.
- Fixed an issue that was causing some backups to fail when access to special hidden folders was restricted (e.g. .Trashes, .TemporaryItems)
- Addressed some errors that could occur when attempting to back up to or from a volume that contains a macOS backup.

Good start, but lots to do

Each of the following will increase my rating by one star:
- Stop asking me to delete photos every time the backup runs
- Add a “safety net” feature like the one that’s available in desktop CCC
- Enable this to run on Apple Silicon Macs
- Update documentation to clarify that devices that support thunderbolt should use direct external drives, and not CCC Diplomat, for fastest transfers. New devices are phasing out Lightning and have been for almost a year now.

No backups in the background?

Got the upgrade to CCC 7 to be able to use the feature of iOS backups.

Well, it won’t do it in the background and you have to manually trigger the backup to start which makes it pointless.

I like CCC for desktop but there are far better apps than this one if you want to backup your iPhone. So this was a bait and switch upgrade for me.

It works

Interface needs work but it does what it works perfectly, I purchased the additional copy to external drive, it’s exactly what I need when traveling so I can trust that my photos and videos are backed up every day.
